I like the Tribute wheels though!
Yeah, black would look good but I like how it turned out. I think they will compliment the red piping on my intake and the red (when I get it painted) valve cover. For contrast I was thinking of painting the bolts for the valve cover black...possibly the letters to????
I appreciate the honesty and the compliment on the wheels!

Oh btw its metal
now that i think about it i got all three mudflap and the two on each fender. I also got the two screws that also attach the ummm top grill or whatever. Where's the undercarriage ones? damn i shouldve cataloged them

full run down of the $2256 i spent includes
lower control arms
adaptive 1 hybrid ceramic front pads
trustop organic rear pads
passenger side CV half shaft
remand alternator
overhauled transmission
serpentine belt
A/C & P/S belt
and a Napa Gold oil filter
hopefully i will have no more problems with the protege...for a LONG time
the only thing left to figure out is why the car stalls in reverse, itll shake real bad and then stall (it was doing it in drive earlier today but stopped) i know that the valve body has to build up pressure and all but still. any suggestions on that? im taking it back to the shop tomorrow for a look over to make sure everything else is good, so hopefully the guy i work with can figure something out, but id like to have some ideas before i go as well

Yeah..... There's no reason why you should be 5k clutch dumping unless you're trying to burnout, and destroy your clutch in the meantime. 2.5-3k and a quick release of the clutch. How quick? Feel it out-- quick enough to be right under the threshold of slippage.

I changed my spark plugs and dumped in some fuel injector cleaner today.
The idle is still a bit hard... so I don't think that totally fixed it. I threw a CEL, so I had AutoZone test it, and it came back as a Mis-Fire. Annoying...CEL is off now, and it starts better, but hopefully it'll kind of work itself out by Tuesday or Wednesday, otherwise I might have to have my brother drive his car for our Labor Day trip. Which would be a bummer, considering I just also purchased a neck head unit. iPod-ready... WOO!

So, I was about to install my horn and my neighbor down the street and a couple house's around the corner ( he's a ricer) came over. He asked what I was doing, I said "I am installing my new music horn, you can program it to play songs" He was like, "SWEEEEEET man, where did you get it. Thats exaclty what I want!" (with his face looking as happy as if he was jerkin it) I told him that I got it from a store from France (don't know why I said France) and that it was the last one that they are going to sell. He then asked if he could buy it from me (knowing me, I will sell anything for the right price). So I acted like I didn't want to sell it and said it was really expensive. I then continued to say I got it $60 (when it was really $35 from advanced). He was like, " I will give you 73$, since thats all I have right now until I go to the bank." I was like, "I don't know man, I really like it." Then I was like " Ohh alright, it will go better with your car anyways" He then went to his car and gave my all of the 73$!!!!!!!!!!. I was like if you need help installing it let me know! And on his way he went to wherever he was going.
So all in all, I made a pretty good profit!!!!! And the whole time, the advanced auto parts bag was right out there on the side lol :):)

I did have a bit of a problem. I went to unbolt the exhaust from the midpipe and one of the pressed in midpipe bolts sheared right off. Had to end up taking the cutoff wheel to both sides of the pressed in bolt and drill em out. Added a few minutes to the reinstall time but no biggie.

Forever I guess... you'll just have a steel dead weight in the rear instead of a sway bar. You may want to zip tie it on so it doesn't swing down and hit anything important if it's not hooked up at all

It'll handle like shit... well, compared to actually having the sway bar.
I ran mine swaybarless for about 2 months. For the same reason as you...
Nobody told me that you had to turn the inside of the rear swar bar, I sat there turning it for about 45 minutes thinking, "Just one more and it'll break loose" ARGH...

get the right endlinks (aka Sedan / Mazdaspeed) and you'll be fine.
I think it's the ES sedan endlinks that are the same as the protege...checking now
EDIT: These are your guidelines:
* 1999-2000 have shorter front endlinks than the post-refresh models, but share the same rear endlinks.
* All 2001-2003 use the same front endlinks (MP3 and MSP included)
* Rear MSP endlinks are the same as the 1999-2000 front endlinks.
* When upgrading to the Racing Beat (MSP/MP3) rear sway bar, make sure to use MSP rear endlinks

The plastic tabs are the only thing you have to cut so I wouldn't really call it vital. Pretty cheap and easy to fix. Like I said, the install wasn't bad at all sans the stupid screws which were just an annoyance. As for benefit... http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3308000&postcount=229

I always go home and loosen them with a breaker bar and then re-tighten them by hand with a moderately large wrench. Then I drive around the block and hand tighten again. The purpose of this is that if I ever have to change my own tire I don't want to have to worry about not being able to get the lugs off because they were tightened with an air wrench and I don't have a huge bar or my air tools with me on the side of some road.

Not today but yesterday.....I sold and delivered (Thunder) header because I'm two weeks away from my turbo install. Of course I've been saying the install will start soon for 8 weeks now. BTW I've been buying parts and studying this "FI adventure" for 10 months now.
I've been hesitant to dive in head first after the P5 turbo whoas I've seen during my time on this forum.
Read- snowblazin, kansei (rest in forum peace), Rogue, khaosman, xelderx, GMalatrasi and all the other P5 brothers I cant remember right now.
I miss the small gains produced by the header but it has given me a new life to get the FI set-up installed.
Side note: It's funny how quickly you get used to your car and how it reacts to the gas pedal.
Wish me luck. I will keep you posted.
Dave.

Drove my P5to the dealership to put a deposit on a Cosmic Blue GT MS3.
Got there and found out the Cosmic Blue GT was already sold, and a True Red Sport was coming next week (exact opposite of what they said on Saturday)... I had my heart set on the Cosmic Blue GT.

I thought that too until I saw the colors next to each other. Plus, the Cosmic Blue only comes on the Speed3. (bonus points IMO)
I think they could've named it Charcoal Blue.... It would have been better/easier to visualize.

no kidding, I think a torque wrench isn't necessary...
90 pounds is about all the force I can muster, my Impact wrench is rated for 300ft/lbs I think,
Of course I don't have a torque wrench, maybe that is my biggest reason for thinking that it isn't necessary
I guess I'm kind of the same, but opposite?? I don't see why not use a torque wrench. Better safe than sorry, I say. Sure.. it might be alright without it, but it doesn't seem necessary to skrimp on stuff like that.
And air gun... aghghghg. Again, better safe than sorry. I don't want to over-torque or strip anything.

That's why you start the lugs with your fingers... I've been changing tires for a long time, and have yet to strip a lug nut or break a stud with a air wrench. Although I've had a couple tire shops break some off with an impact, and I've twisted a stud off with a 4-way (it was already damaged, I'm not Superman) so I'm not saying that it is impossible, but you run that risk whenever you change a tire.
If I had a torque wrench, I would probably check after my 100 miles of driving, but I'm not going to go out and make the purchase just for my Lug nuts.(drinks)

The dealer in Fairbanks has 6 Speed3's on their lot. and 2x2007 Cosmic Blue GTs. They might allow it, I'm waiting for an email (they aren't open yet).

OK! I have been cleaning my car for 2 days now and I was half way done waxing the car today. I parked it in the garage and went to work. It rained 3 times while I was at work. Boy I sure am glad I kept my car parked in the garage and walked to work.... NOT!!!!!! I get home and my car is out of the garage. My dad moved it out of the garage and it got rained on. Now in the morning I have to wash it and then finish the wax. uggg. On a happy note the parts I did wax and the rainx made some sexy beads. Oh yea and my lazy ass really needs to adjust the hangers on my mid pipe, probably the most embarrassing thing of 3 things I need to fix. So lazy. I wish I had the enthusiasm I did when I first bought the car. You know when you wash it every weekend and it's still stock. Man o man.

got it from autozone, its actually a little turbine that spins up when you hit the horn button and shoots air through the horn. Makes a interesting traffic plow, its about as loud as a small mac truck. Friggin funy as hell when i'm rolling into work and my little wagon goes " HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK" and the people everywhere look around all confused:'(

i recently installed a local brand SRI with K&N filter. I thought of buying one from bomz before but eventually decided to support the local. In total, i only spend about $100CAD.
After installing the SRI i hv some questions
1) Is it normal to hv hissing sound when the car is idle? i am afraid i didn't install it properly since this is my first engine mod.
2) I notice my mazdaspeed sport exhaust is a bit quieter than before. Should this happen? cos i always think intake would make the car louder. Now, i think it is better since the MS exhaust is quieter.
3) Did you guys notice any performance improvement? For me, i think the car revs a bit faster between 4-5k rpm. Am I imagining things?
4) I read many people have rubbing issue with their SRI. How can you tell and where are the locations that rub? I know it is the master cylinder and something do with the brakes, but where are their physical location? I don't know much about the engine bay.
Anyway, this is my setup

Yep, you'll 'hv' (wtf? x 2) some hissing from the filter area. If it's from anywhere else, uh...you probably did something seriously wrong lol
2) I notice my mazdaspeed sport exhaust is a bit quieter than before. Should this happen? cos i always think intake would make the car louder. Now, i think it is better since the MS exhaust is quieter.
It's probably quieter in comparison in that before the engine barely made noise and it was all exhaust. Now you have all that intake noise too.
3) Did you guys notice any performance improvement? For me, i think the car revs a bit faster between 4-5k rpm. Am I imagining things?
probably not. It'll pull a little harder.
4) I read many people have rubbing issue with their SRI. How can you tell and where are the locations that rub? I know it is the master cylinder and something do with the brakes, but where are their physical location? I don't know much about the engine bay.
The elbow from the throttle body to where it connects to the MAF CAN run on the Master Cylinder (metal thing with pipes...where your brake / clutch fluid goes, bolts up to the firewall). If you hear some really loud metallic rattling, there's your problem. If not, you probably have the clearances correct.
Anyway, this is my setup[/QUOTE]
