Bummer. Are you going to get it fixed? (obviously, not at Wagner!)

install : AWR: 7 - directions are terrible
Progress - 10 - super easy, took 20 minutes
visual appeal : AWR-7.5 - natural metal is coolish, but it turns yellow
Progress - 10 - matches the stock stuff, beautiful powdercoat
noise level - AWR - -5. so fucking annoying, no matter what

I'm almost tempted to put the full set on and get a some aftermarket ones for my 3... that is if I don't sell the 3 first.
I would recommend 215/45/17 or 205/45/17 tires, the 205/50/17 is a bit too tall IMO.

I'll probably step up to 215/45's. I just need more tire. Khaosman has convinced my RPF1's are the way to go!
Also does anyone know by chance how the speedometers in our cars are calibrated? I'm just curious because ever since I swapped out my intrument cluster for an MSP one I swear my "speed at RPM" has dropped. Like it used to be 72 mph at 3500 RPM but now it's lower. I'm just curious if the calibration is with the cluster so if I were to jump up to 215/45's would it read correctly?

Yeah that's true. I was just curious why the speed vs. RPM ratio changed when I put the MSP cluster in. Either way, I think 215/45's are only like 1% off or something - like 61 mph when indicated 60 mph.

got HID my kit today. installation seems confusing to me.
does the plastic tube around the bulb stay on or does it remove when you go to install. i got the top off but does the bottom stay on? i dont see how to get it off w/o breaking it. it comes off the bulb but how do i get it out of the wires? or does it stay on once i get the bulb clipped in?
which one of the plugs on the stock harness is positive and which is negative?
everything in the kit plugs into something else in the kit except two prongs that appear to connect to the stock harness, i just dont know which prong goes to which on the harness. also, is there a left and right ballast or is it universal in that aspect?

That's really weird, I think my little hiccup at the pump a few weeks back was the pump's fault. I thought most pumps just clicked off when they sensed splash-back or whatever. I have no idea what would be wrong with your car to make that happen.
By the way, thanks to you I am hell bent on some 16x7's now - although I'm going to try to run some 225/45's on a +46 mm wheel. Rolling fenders and negative camber ftw!
Can the stock alignment setup be set for a little more negative camber? Right now my rears are only about 0.5 deg but I'd like to go to at least 1 deg with these wheels.

I don't know, but camber bolts are cheap and the front won't be an issue. You can do the strut rotation thing up front too to get a little more negative camber.

My brother came to visit and did my timing belt and water pump for me at 95Kmiles :). It's just awesome to have a mechanic as brother! to bad he lives in Switzerland :/. He told me the belt looked really bad so I'm guessing the previous owner didn't do the 60k service. I bought and shipped him some headers as thank you for his 350Z.

the instructions dont really help. basically i need to know how to tell which socket on the stock harness (the white cross looking thing) gets which plug from the kit. the socket is not marked pos/neg, yet the wires in the kit are. :(
Yeah, the instructions are pretty bad. Did you figure it out? It's one of those things...once you figure it out, it's with you for life. Like riding a bicycle :D

Sounds like you are hooked up in that department (drive2). As long as you enjoy the car, the repair is worth it.
I know my car is not perfect and perhaps one day I will have to put serious money into it, but I enjoy the hell out of it every day. So it makes it worthwhile.

Hehe, drove her like it was no one's business last night! I always forget how fun it is just to romp around like crazy for a while (I'm usually in conserve-gas mode). But man, one thing I noticed is how extra weight in the car immediately makes it fall on it's face. LOL, I had two other ppl in the P5 with the A/C on and it felt like I was back to N/A again...

LOL yeah, there's lots of fun roads near where I go to school and I sometimes get together with the local car club to do some fun runs in the mountains (Mt. Tabor for the VA ppl) - smoking brakes ftw! The problem is I always feel so guilty afterwards - I usually end up checking for leaks and cracks and stuff for like a week afterwards. The only downside so far with the turbo...

+1
I left my SPT's on this past winter because it was really mild at first then we got hit with a lot of snow. I got stuck in a parking space three times - each time requiring my friends and I to push her out. Performance in heavy rain is a little questionable as well. I still love the tire though.

Put the shorty antenna on and omg does it look much better. Also bought brand new floormats that make the car look so much cleaner. Installed a blaupunkt bahamas deck with a pair of pioneers.
A set of 2 12" Audiobahns are coming (thumb) but anyway, I washed the car yesterday and took a pic which is the sig pic. spent about 2 hours washing it and using the spray on wax which works and looks great. And then today, it freakin rains!! ahhhhhh stupid Ohio.

I took the liberty of fixing that post for you Mark :p
I've got to say that the mazdaspeed sway bar is the single best thing I have done to my car in recent memory. So far, it's been quiet, and for a street setup, the handling is superb. I'm on Illuminas (set to 3f/4r) with Mazdaspeed springs, so the suspension has been decent, but always a little too pushy for me. Now I have just enough rotation when warranted, with still a hint of understeer when you overcook it. For a daily driver fwd car, it handles so well, and rides great :D

Good News: Everything is back on my car that I took off
Bad News: Lights aren't painted b/c i couldnt get the plastic off even after heating 3 times in oven. i got it pryed a lil but wouldnt come off and i have somewhere to be at 630 so i had to put everything back on. hopefully i can try again next week. :(
Other good news: so i didnt completely waste my day, i moved my ballasts so they arent in the engine bay anymore. also all the nuts and screws are gone, so everything i took off found it's way back on.

I just got an e-mail from my mom saying that someone was turning around in her driveway and clipped the corner of my car, leaving some scratches on the rear bumper. The best part is that I am out of the country for another couple of weeks, and she was away for a couple of weeks. So it could have happened at any time. No note or anything. Stupid people.
Now I get to spend the next couple of weeks worrying about how bad it is. Hopefully it is just some minor scratches that I can get taken care of.

Get a $0.99 wire tester. It'll have an aligator clip on one end of a wire the a light and a metal probe.
Attach the clip to a grounding spot on the car and stick the other end into the parking light wire loom. Turn on the parking lights and test each wire until you find the one that iluminates the light in the wire testor. Then turn off the parking lights and test that wire again. If it now doesn't light up the tester then that is your wire.

I think it's the green with black stripe. That's the wire that's shorted out on my car, leaving me with absolutely no driving lights.

does the tester only light up once or something? also, how hard is it to feed a wire through the firewall?

Drove 300 miles back home again. About half way I realized my oil pressure gauge was reading really low. When I got back I checked the oil level and found it didn't even register on the dpistick! Last Fri. it was halfway between F and L and today it was not even there. I added a quart of oil (all I had) and that brought it back up to a little over halfway again. I really need to find out why I'm burning more than a quart of oil in about 2000 miles! No leaks or anything, and the last time I checked (~2 weeks ago) there was no oil in the intake track. What's up?
