this was a really easy mod.
i have a mint blue grill so getting to the stock horn and replacing it may be easier that with a stock grill...? not sure, maybe bruce can chime in here?
anyway, i was able to reach in from the top and remove the bolt, disconnect the wire and pull out the stock horn in about 3 mins.
i used the bracket that come with the horn listed above and just turned in so the flat part would meet the frame, use the existing bolt hole, attached the ground to the stock bolt, attached the power lead to the + terminal...bolted it back on and i was done. i'll attache some pics tonight.
you need one wrench and about 30 mins start to finsh (even less)!!(cool) i love the sound as well!

OOOOOooooo good choice! What size did you go with? I'm really torn between some 17x7.5 RPF1's (15 lbs w00t) or some 16x7 Gram Lites 57c's. Do you think 225/45R16's on a 16x7 wheel with a +46mm will work (I wouldn't mind rolling fenders). I really want something wider than 215 and unfortunately for 17" the next size up is 225/45 which is probably way to big (and heavy!).

That 225 should fit, get some decent negative camber in the rear and roll the fenders. Also get a higher offset (maybe +48/50) if you can. Stiff spring rates are also very helpful!

Unfortunately I've only been able to find the Gram Lite in +46. Anyhow, aren't the RPF1 16x7's only +43? That's all I've seen of them (according to AutoRnD). I'm really trying to find a nice (decent quality) 16x7 wheel with a +48 offset so I can run some 225/45's without much problem. I really don't want Rota's. I wish the 16x7 RPF1's came in +48...

Had a well deserved "blue moon" maintenance experience. Called down to the dealer for the t-stat at 6:40p - they closed at 7:00p and had it waiting for me when I got there at 6:55. I had it changed out and was ripping up the canyon before 8:00p and the problem is fixed. (cabpatch)

Yeah they are only +43. I'm either going to run 205 or 215 width tires. Good enough for my street driving, heh.
You don't want Rotas due to style or concern on the quality? They are great quality wheels, especially for the price.
Anyway, the only thing I'd watch out for with the 225/45 tire is your suspension setup. I don't know how low those springs are, but you lack the ability to adjust ride height and spring rates that coilovers have; definite pluses to keeping those back tires from rubbing when the suspension compressions. But people are managing to fit 245 tires on there, so it shouldn't be any problem :D

yeah i had fun with my UDP back when i got it installed, brought it back several times for squealing. during the winter, i still get some squealing on a cold start but it goes away. u have to play with it and make tiny adjustments at this point. my mechanic was afraid to over tighten and have the belts snap, so he just kept slightly tightening until we got it right, good luck!! that squeal is loud as hell too, esp. with fans or lights on...wake up the whole damn neighborhood

i do love my car, which is why it will take me a while to decide what to do - but with all the changes that have happened in my life lately, along with the new priorities, etc - it is an option i'm considering. there is a financial factor to the decision too; i'm not working right now, and won't be for a few more months at least, and hubby can't afford to pay my car payment (not that i would ever ask him to; that's my responsibility)... it's something i'm thinking long and hard about.

i would say experiment on a day when there is no moisture in the air, so testing it in the wee morning hours is not a good idea as there is probably dew or some moisture crap all over the belts. mine originally was squealing during the day or once i turned on any accessories....thats when u know it is too loose. in my opinion (this is very non technical right now) it should only squeal during the morning cause of the dew or possibly if there are heavy rains/flooding.

here in gainesville and jacksonville there is almost always 100% humidity. :( so there is ALWAYS moisture in the air. but i tightened them again last night and the alt belt only has like 5-6 threads left. the belt will twist 90 degrees if i twist hard so i think it's ok, but is only having that much thread left normal? i know the diameter of the pulley is smaller so making it tight will mean the bolt would have to be tightened more, but only 5 threads?

I just changed the auto tranny fluid. it was dark, but not burnt and no metal flakes or anything *whew*. the only problem I ran into was that the drain plug is blocked by the A arm. but the bolt was no match for my vice grips (nana) I would have done the filter too, but jess needed the car. I still have enough tranny fluid that I can do the whole job again at a later date.

lol 30mpg bad? I guess compared to what you got with a nice 1.6l SOHC. I'm averaging about 17mpg with the turbo hopefully due to my tune and/or right foot. That is quite a bit of highway too.

Thanks yes. MT-90.
Got everything done today. Had to scramble to get a new caliper, bracket was bad as well. Everything bolted up nicely, glad I had the impact gun, needed that to get the nut off for the bearings. Pretty easy swap.
Did not get the painting done today, will finish that tomorrow. The rumbling from the back is gone, purrs at 80, shifting is smooth again. Had a blast driving around after the repairs.
No pics Mark, hands too dirty to handle the camera, but hand washed it again after it was all done. Nice and clean.

For the first time I considered returning her to stock:
Long story:
Well, everyone here knows of the CEL I got almost two weeks ago (P0140 - dead 2nd O2 sensor). Well, that actually turned itself off and for the last ~700 miles I was CEL free. Well I came back to school today and while sitting at a stoplight I noticed my AFR's sitting at 17.0:1 at idle! At first I'm like ok, just blip the gas and it will return to normal. Well I get back to my apartment and blip the throttle and sure enough - CEL. Well immediately I go get it read. Yep, you guessed it P0140 again but this time also P0171 - System too lean (no shit). So, I'm pretty certain my O2 sensor is dead. I just want to make sure that the P0171 is just something connected to the O2 sensor and when I replace it, it will go away. Anyone know more about this?
My other annoying thing is a leaky oil catch can. I've tightened the bottom nut as hard as I could and it's still leaking. Also, the lines I'm using for the catch can can't stand up to the heat of the engine bay and the vacuum force from my engine. Does anyone know of a type of line (3/8") that is heat resistant, strong enough against vacuum lines and won't let oil leak through (regular silicone lines leak).
Short Story:
P0140 (again) and P0171. 2nd O2 sensor dead again and system too lean. Are these two interrelated (ie if I replace the sensor will the system run normally again)?
Catch can leaking, lines getting sucked together because of the vacuum. Need a type of line that is heat/vacuum resistant and that won't leak oil vapors through like silicone.
Argh!

Pfffttb you should be afraid to NOT boost then :D
I did a little rough tuning today. I'm hitting max injector duty on my 440s at about 6000rpm; max rev was 6300. My tune is also pig rich so that may have something to do with it. Hopefully I can get this sorted, I want to rev to the limiter (at least at autocrosses).

LOL I actually thought of that.
Did you know you can drive around w/o the primary O2 sensor plugged in? I left it unplugged accidentally and the only consequence was running even leaner (still hit 10:1 at WOT though). I just figured a CEL would have appeared.
I really want to get my AFC in so I can start tuning - but with this leaning-out issue I'm afraid to do so.

Filled up at the gas station - something interesting though. Ever since getting this car over 2 years ago I fill up when the gas light first comes on (~2 gal left) so I put in about 12.5 gal every time - and I mean EVERY time. Today however I barely put in 12 gal and the gas light had been on since this morning. So either the pump was off and yay, I paid less than I had to or something is wrong with my car's fuel system. I did run it for a longer time with the gas light on Sat night - I wasn't near any gas station - this was the longest I've ever done that. Is it possible I gunked up the fuel filter or injectors or something? Is it possible this is related to my lean at idle issues?

not sure what you mean by clicks. are you talking about the pump cutting off....? if the tank is really empty sometimes you will get splash back on the fuel sensor and it will tell the pump it's full when it's not. if this isnt what you are talking about, oops. lol

yeah - the pump "clicked" only at 12 gal when it usually does at 12.5. The light came on this morning; I probably only drove like 5 miles with it on - nothing like a did Sat. night (~20-30 miles). I'm just curious if this is related to my lean condition. I don't have anyway to check any of this but a local dealership is going to look at the car on Thurs.

oo. even when it is almost full, it will get splash back from the fuel hitting the "pond" inside the tank. just like if you pour water into a pond or other reservoir it will splash. sometimes it's a mistake to click and sometimes it's really the click.

Sounds good - I think the pump was just messing with me and the fact that I'm paranoid over everything isn't helping. Tomorrow I get to (hopefully) change out the rear O2 sensor and clean and re-drill the nonfouler and thoroughly inspect the exhaust for any leaks/cracks/breaks and check the spark plugs (why not?). the issues i had were with the s pipe.
what i had to do was loosen the nuts, and pull up on the part of the pipe closest to the front of the car, pull down on the part near the rear, and re tighten the bolts. doing that on 3 spots gave me the clearance i needed. but of course, my issue was where the exhaust went over the rear crossmember. it was touching the chassis about the crossmember.

can anyone spot any issues? I think the midpipe, which is MAM is too short and thus pulls the header up and towards the back of the car, still leaving the MAM resting on the crossmember and the header touching the bottom of the engine.

One way to confirm that is to take measurements of your stock pipe saying you still have it and compare it against the MAM one. Or just throw your stock one back on.

I didn't do anything, but my wife took it to work and got a speeding ticket! :0
76 in a 55, 'cause she didn't know that the limit had dropped down from 65! She says she was just rolling along with the flow of traffic, which I can attest does run about that fast on that road in the 65 and 55 sections.
Oh well.
...and just 'cause it always starts a fight:

Yeah, and we can actually have them here, unlike VA. It's so weird, being from VA for most of my life, the idea of buying/having one just seems odd to me, when in actuality, VA's the only state that still outlaws them!
The good news is that it's apparently not automatically wreckless driving in GA to be 20 over the limit the way it is in VA!

Well I got the O2 sensor replaced but I noticed something interesting... I was missing one stud from my s-pipe (that's one of three) and it causes quite a large exhaust leak - enough to feel with just the car on, no light plugging of the muffler. Well, I have a new stud so I'm going to see if this is what was causing my problems...

While I was installing some led turn signal bulbs in the back of my car today (back of car facing house), a mom walking her dog and some little kids walked by. One of the little boys stoped at the end of my driveway, looked at my car and said "thats a nice car..." and just turned and kept going. This kid had to of been like 5 or 6, which kinda gave me a O.o look. So I was like (rockon) little kid, and went back to work.
