Hood, upper rad support, passenger headlight, grille, Apex air diverter plate and front bumper cover are gone. The grille is literally in about 10 pieces, the rad is pushed back about 4 in. but looks mostly undamaged (the brackets are fucked though), the passenger headlight is shattered, the hood is pushed in and up and the bumper cover is scratched and cracked in more places I can mention. All the turbo/IC stuff looks to be ok - my slim A/C fan is still connected to the radiator and stiff spins just fine. The only thing I'm worried about is the main fan which is currently squished between the rad and some IC pipe. Other possible things damaged are the bumper support (likely), the driver's headlight and the front subframe/motor mount area.
Fortunately most of the damage is cosmetic because I actually went under the car in front of me (yeah, my fault) so it missed my IC (from what I can tell) and all the turbo stuff. Nothing was leaking or melted so none of the hoses reptured and my rad is still intact. I have pics on my phone but it is charging because it died from all the picture-taking and phone calling I was doing. I will have a thread up when I get everything straight.

So after a quick run to lowes and my brother's air tools the install went smoothly and I am very impressed with the effect on driving. It happened to be raining so I took full advantage of being able to break my tires loose at will on my "test" drive. Vibrations are minimal and wheel hop all but a memory.

No, no KB bushings. Do these just replace the bushings in the bottom of the shifter itself? I don't have them, and have still been really happy with the tight, precise action of the B&M. I tried Katya4me's shifter at one point, she had the bushings, and either the B&M or the KB shifter (I don't remember which) and I found it a little too stiff.
I'll mention them to Lee, but he's so happy with his B&M over the long, sloppy stocker right now, I don't expect he'll be looking to tighten it up anytime soon!

I'm gonna wash all the nasty bugs off my car from my trip up to Montreal and back this weekend
what does everybody here use to get bugs off the front bumper? I bought some Turtle Wax bug and tar remover...gonna try that out today. usually I just scrub 'em off with the lambswool mitt...
i just use car wash when i wash my car and a little elbow grease with a microfiber towel.

Driving without being able to get a wheel off if I get a flat isn't a good idea to me. If it's not moved yet will a mod please move it to the how-to.

does rain-x actually do anything or is it just a gimmick? i've never actually seen anyone use it before.

I <3 rain-x. I don't use it as often as I used to, but when I lived in Seattle I used every time I washed my car. Makes the rain slide right off your windshield. On the freeway you don't even have to use your windshield wipers. (I still do, but you can leave it on the lowest setting even in a heavy rain)

i dont have rain-x...i got something better :) i forget the name, it's in my car and its raining so i will get it later. it's a spray that you spray on the windshield (and other windows) and you simply wipe off. it's like waxing ur windshield. best thing ever

I have herd a lot of good things about the ACT clutchs. If your going to be putting in a purformance clutch it would be a really smart idea to save up for a light weight flywheel like Fidanza. A Fidanza flywheel would work better with the performance clutch than the stock flywheel would. Plus later on down the road you wouldn't have to go through the whole grulling process again if you wanted to put a lightweight flywheel in. As far as installing it I would do it yourself. Its a lot of work but it would save you a lot of money. I would say it would be at least $200-300 in labor for a mechanic to do it, if not more. That money could buy you alot more upgrades for the P5.

You can rent engine housts(cherry picker), and I am sure you at least have a jack right? The rest is just finding time to do it? If you have a garage just park it in there and work on it when you can. Then just ride a bike, or carpool with a friend to school unless your a long distance from your school or work then you have a bit more of a problem. If you took it to a mechanic you would have to deal with the same waiting problem, it just might take them a little less time.

Not my P5, but one of the dodge work trucks. I was driving to town today, and about 5km from camp I noticed that the temp gauge was way higher than it should be. It never gets above 95 C, but it was closer to 120C. Cranked the heat to cool her, no heat coming out. Pull over and check the coolant, there was none in the recovery tank, and it was really low in the Rad. Got a co worker to go back to camp and get me some coolant, put in 3 gallons. Seemed to run fine and not loose too much on the way back to town. The temp stayed steady at just under 95C the whole way. I think we caught it quick enough to not do any damage to the engine.

What did I do to my car this week. Some rude California ass hole decided to slam their driver door into my right side front door putting 2 noticeable dents in my door. Some other wonderful California resident decided to push their shopping cart into my right front bumper and rim.
Then on the way home on Hwy 60 13 miles west of Agulia, AZ I hit a large jack-rabbit and take out my lower grill, crack the paint on my bumper (spider web cracks) Take out a small chunk of plastic. Then destroy the plastics under the car. Finally it split my windsplitter in two pieces.

The bumper is fine just needs to be repainted. I have already ordered a new lower grill and windsplitter from Revenant ( she works in parts at an AZ mazda dealership). I can run the car with the bumper as it sits. Just put a clear rockblocker bra over it and it'll be fine. But since I enter in shows I want my paint perfect so I'll sand down the bumper, fix the hair line cracks and repaint. Ineed to get a hold of a paintless dent repair place next payday and see if they can pop out my two dents on the door. One is right at the body line though.

I will get it back, just need to catch up on some payments. I feel sick to my stomache about the whole thing. Ironically we were working on my car when it happened. Two big as guys pulled up to my house with a clipboard in his hand and needless to say I got a bad feeling at that moment.
Sorry to hear that... I hope you have another way to get back and forth to work.

A silver P5 passed me. I was all giddy thinking it was my ol' gal. To no avail though.
At least I get to work on other P5s. Sold my entire audio system to CrazeeD and all we had left to do was install the OEM sub. Had to hardwire it in. Easy enough and a huge improvement.

starting on saturday morning, i started the drive from Edmonton, Alberta to Wichita, Kansas. i'm in my car with my dog, and my parents are hauling the fifth wheel loaded with all my stuff. the trailer makes a great shield against bugs, lol.
drove all the way to my aunt's in a small hicktown in southwest Saskatchewan (Wymark, if anyone cares to look it up). turned over 100k km on the way there, so i took a picture for posterity. :) continued the journey on Sunday to my grandparents' here in southern Manitoba (Winkler, about a 1/2 hour north of the Canada/US border). saturday was fine, but halfway to my grandparents' on sunday i encountered a teeny tiny problem... called a CEL. i have NEVER, EVER, got one in my car until yesterday.
pulled over and checked out everything i could think of (gas cap - fine; oil level - fine; rad water level - fine; air filter - a little dirty, but still fine; etc). the car was driving normally, but when i popped the hood the 'tic-ing' from the engine was a little louder than normal and at idle she was a little rougher too. turning off the car didn't solve anything, so i reset the ecu and the CEL went away.
a couple hours later after filling up, the CEL came on again, so i checked the gas cap to make sure (fine). reset the ecu again, and crossed my fingers. CEL came on again a couple hours later, but we were about 1 hour away from my grandparents' so i just left it.
went to their mechanic this morning to pull the code: 2nd O2 sensor not reading proper (didn't catch the actual code, but the O2 sensor itself was fine the mechanic assured me). i was hoping it would either be this or the egr (ie, needing lubrication). put the car up on ramps, pulled off the non-fouler and found quite a bit of carbon in the non-fouler and on the O2 sensor, built up over the last 2 years. cleaned it, put everything back together again and though i haven't driven her much since (like 10km), she's running much better and so far, no CEL. keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again. i still have another 1500km to go before i get to Wichita (leave again Thursday morning for the border and south).

so a piece of advice to those with the non-fouler trick - take it off and clean it occasionally. :)
also, i found out that my car gets no better mileage cruising at 60mph for hours on end than it does when i'm going 70-75mph.

haha, yes i know. and it's really not that difficult for me to work with miles vs. kms (eg, i always calculate my consumption in mpg; i canNOT understand litres/100 km). what's going to be tough is farenheit and gallons. i know my celsius temps, so i made myself a 'cheat sheet' of every 5 degrees from 5C through to 40C and the equivalent in farenheit. what's also going to be hard initially is filling up, i know approx. how many litres when my gauge is at a certain point so to figure out how many gallons is going to be interesting. btw, empty, how many gallons is our gas tank? what about at 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4?
and sorry to take a little of the fun out of your post, but i have been teased PLENTY by you yanks already. my trip to chicago last may was full of jokes. :D i took it all in stride though.

first off, i have to second ekhart's question: why?
secondly, importing a car into canada is MUCH different than into the US. if you go to www.riv.ca (i believe; it's the Registrar of Imported Vehicles), it will give you a listing of vehicles that are allowed to be imported. after that, you'd have to contact transport canada and the transportation department of the province (in this case, Quebec) that you would be moving to to find out what sort of modifications would have to be done in order to make it legal in canada. for example, you HAVE to have daytime running lights (drl's), and if you don't have one already, a block heater would be highly recommended. any modifications are at your expense and MUST be done within 45 days of importing the car, iirc. you might have to pay gst (federal sales tax) and possibly duty on your car when you import it too.
because i'm moving to kansas (no emissions testing, yay!), i don't have to do anything physically to my car. and because i'm coming into the US on the K1 visa (ie, fiance visa) and importing the car permanently, i'm supposed to be able to bring in one vehicle duty free. i'll find out for sure once i'm at the border tomorrow. then i have to have it inspected and registered in KS and i'm done. easy-peasy. :)

oh, i should let everyone know... if anyone's looking for a true jdm fd rx7 (early to mid 90's i'm guessing) there are 3 for sale in Winkler right now. that's right, a small city of maybe 30k has 3 right-hand drive, twin turbo rx7's at one of the local garages. one i know has some extensive modifications done to it; there are several gauges in the car, it has bride seats, etc. i NEVER would have thought to see one rx7 here, let alone 3. shop is called The Garage if anyone wants to look into things.
oh forgot to mention: on saturday when we were driving to my uncle and aunt's in saskatchewan, we were passed by a ford gt. middle of nowhere saskatchewan... never would have thunk that.

So this morning I am driving into work doing 65 in the middle lane when a Tundra pulling a trailer changes into my lane (from the slow lane doing 60). This pisses me off first as there was no need for him to change...anyway....I hear this clicking and see one of his tie-down straps is loose and is bouncing off of the pavement. So as I start to back off the damn thing comes loose and I see it coming towards me. Nothing I could do but hold on..it skipped a few times and I must have run over the belt because I incurred no damage to my tire/bumper.
Hopefully this will be the last that any of us encounter this unmentionable word.
