It was a nice day in northern AZ so I couldn't resist stopping by the lake and snapping some quick pix. Unfortunately I only had my phone or my daughters 3 megapixal in the car with me.

that's the msp bumper with the 03.5 msp lip. Mine is the p5 bumper with the 03.5 msp lip though (you can see the amber reflectors on the side). the msp didn't come with the amber reflectors on the side because they were built into the headlights. the p5 doesn't have amber side reflectors in the headlights, so mazda put them in the bumper.

Well, apparently the SECOND front bumper on my car has been on there too long.......At least that must be what the dumbass Woodchuck was thinking as he ran his dumbass out in front of me and proceedeed to get smoked. Cracked the front bumper, busted up the plastic underneath the car, stress cracks all around the fog light.

dang man. sorry that happened :( will insurance cover all of it? what about the deductible though? is that woodchuck blood on the fog light? yikes

Yaggie1
05-03-2007, 11:06 PM
Yeah, insurance will cover it. I don't remember what the deductable is. I wanna say it cost me $100 last time when I smoked a Racoon. Not blood on the foglight. Actually, they are kind of Ghetto rigged in yellow. Both of them have been cracked for a while and I wanted to go yellow but, didn't really want to spend the money for new fogs. I had seen on another forum where someone took this paint, it's called stained glass paint from Krylon and it looked kinda nice. I painted mine up a while back. They looked good when I first did em. Now however, they are just all chipped and looking like shit..... I am going to try to get em replaced on this insurance claim I think. Might see if I can get em to cover the painting of my DG grill too.

Today I used it to cart around parts for my Honda. First I found out that the Optima yellow top I had in it is completely shot...16 months old. I used the remaining warranty to get a Duralast, then I took all 3 alternators I have here in to get tested because I know the one in the car is bad. And came back with two good ones and one shot one. Now I get to sweep it all out for Carlisle.

If you had another good alternator I'd pick it up off you.. I sorta think mine is on it's way out. My car is NEVER over 12.1 volts, shouldn't the alternator jack it up to 14?

OK, all done with side mount + test drive. Used jack with board to support motor. Things are in a bind a bit to tighten everything up, bet my rear mount is toast. I will add another washer on the inside between bracket, washers under aluminum bracket & longer bolt with self locking nut to get things squared up better. Not off crazy but noticeable by my perfectionist eye & how it all tightened up. Initially the vibes are not much different than with just the front but that is a good thing because they weren't bad at all before. Drives fine. I'll see how it breaks in. It's definitely sturdier setup now than the oem. The oem wasn't in too bad shape, just small tear on one side. Here's the pics.........http://www.msprotege.com/members/i12...P5/sls_001.jpg

Ouch, that sux.
tell me about it.
cracked the front bumper, pushed the driver side quarter panel in (can be fixed though its not that bad), bent the core support, broke the left radiator bracket, and broke off the lower grill. i ripped the upper one off because i was pissed and because the hood wouldnt close (grill got shoved upwards). oh yea the passenger headlight is sunk in a little bit (not too bad) but none of the lights were broken which is really good.
im still probably gonna be out about $800. hopefully i can find an msp/p5 bumper for sale on the forums for semi cheap.

Are you going through insurance? I had an accident similar to that and it was nearly $4000 in damages. My repair list was all most identical. If you can do if for $800 I will be super impressed. Good luck.

hmm if its 4 grand i wont fix it. i know a few people so im hopin to get hooked up. my buddy todd said he would paint my new bumper for me when i get it, and i have a friend at a garage that can probably hook me up with straighting out the core support and fixing the radiator support (which now that i think about it is only bent, not broken). as far as the fender goes it doesnt look bent it just looks pushed back, so hopefully the brackets for that arent destroyed and can be bent back as well.
id be more concerened if the headlights had broken, theyre far from cheap.

So, now my car is going to have front bumper #3 on it pretty soon...........But, now looking at yours I don't feel quite as bad. That sucks dude. Mine is only costing $50 for the deductable........

How many chucks could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Today I did started on the Katzkins leather install. I have both rear seats done but because it is my girls b-day I didn't finnish. Cinceo de Meyo FTW. Tomorrow I am going to finnish both seats - clean the interior completly and take some pictures of the finnished interior. Next weekend will be even more fun as I build my fiberglass sub box.

Find a PPG global paint supplier.. dunno how to do that but yeah..

and to answer one of your other questions, no, it doesn't come with any grilles. The upper grille is like ~120ish for the P5 grille (black top bar), and I think the lower grille is 40ish?

the navi is another 4 or 500 on top of this price, so its a little more expensive, its just a little HD that you plug into the back of the unit, but i wouldn't use the navigation anyways. i love my ipod and this had the best interface for it by far (also the fastest) that's the main reason that i went with this. plus i'll be modding it so that you are able to watch videos while the e-brake is off, for road trips with friends and stuff.

I thought about doing that but it's like 8 ft of wire and harness - I just don't know where to put everything. Plus I have one wire that looks like it was cut - I'm not sure where that one goes. I haven't checked yet but I wonder if ProtegeFAQ has an install guide...

Actually the wiring harness isn't all that much wiring.. it's literally plug and play. The only thing you actually have to dig at to get to is the switch that senses when the driver door is open/close.. everything else is PNP, right up under the dash.

i don't have to, but it makes cleaning them SO much easier - you can literally just hose them off and they're clean.

check out poorboys wheel sealant. a couple of coats of that on properly cleaned and prepped wheels and dirt just wipes off the rest of the summer.

it is SO worth the time it takes to do (which really isn't long).

this is my 'recipe' for sealing my wheels:
1. clean with P21S wheel cleaner - make sure you get the gel, not the liquid; it sticks better to the wheel
2. rinse off and dry with a waffle weave towel
3. apply Klasse All-In-One (AIO) on the outside AND inside of the rim; let 'set' for about 15 min, then remove with a microfibre towel
4. apply Poorboys Wheel Sealant (make sure you're not hungry, the stuff smells really good) with a foam applicator, again to both the outside and inside of the rim. i do each rim and once i'm done the fourth, i go back and remove the sealant in the order it was applied. sealant is removed with a clean microfibre towel.
5. repeat step 4. you can do this a third time if you like, but i really don't know how much extra protection it offers.
6. put clean rims on car :)

when you wash your car from now on (using regular car wash soap), dirt literally washes off with little to no wiping.

the best place to get the above products is www.exceldetail.com. patrick's awesome, his shipping is fast, and his prices are some of the best (first)

Nice, I need to do this. My HP+ dusted like a sonuvagun, I can't remember how these Axxis are, been too long since I drove my car hahaha. Another solution is getting gunmetal wheels, like the RX7 wheels. They are already brake dust colored when clean :D

1. i never said the mount blew the clutch, i said the clutch is bad thus i had to sell the mount for the money.

2. it did cause the 1st noise because it stiffened up the front so the rear was moving too much causing the sound. thus i replaced it w/ the stock mount and...noise gone.

3. i never said the sls mount caused this problem...considering it is in the mail on the way to its new owner. i said the MOUNTS, being PLURAL are causing it because they are torn and are allowing the entire exhaust system to move and shake too much.

IN MY BUSINESS THIS IS WHAT WE CALL READER ERROR
