my insurance company said to find a body shop and get it fixed asap.. but I need to get ahold of the other jerk's crap insurance company to see what they say... since they said they won't get a claims adjuster to look at my car for over a week.
Sucks when you have a nice insurance company because whenever you have to deal with someone else's it's so shitty

ZOMG NEW ROCHESTER MEMBER!!!! congrats!!!! WELCOME AND STUFF!!!!
yeah I'll be rolling in a silver Pontiac G5 coupe.. if you see a kid who looks like he's 14 but is actually nearly 21 in a silver G5 coupe with shiny hubcaps and NY plates driving with sunglasses and the collar up high on his coat so no one can see his face as he drives down the road.. that's me. It's so embarassing driving this shitbox, I really feel bad that my parents are driving the 6 hours up here this weekend to take the rental and give me either the 05 Altima SE (yay fast VQ) or my good ol Mazda B4000 LE 4x4.. yay
I'm only getting 21.4mpg according to the trip computer on the thing.. and from what I've experienced, these things usually err on the optimistic side... WTF!

3.5 se or 2.5 se? 2.5 se is a slug. 3.5 se on the other hand....(humpleg)
2.5SE.. no such thing. There's 2.5 (no a/c or ANY options .. at all), 2.5s (what 70% of Altimas sold are), 2.5SL (pretty much a fully optioned out 2.5.. standard leather, bose, heated seats, auto tranny :(, moonroof, etc.. my mom had a black 03 before she got her black 05), and then the 3.5SE which can range anywhere from like 23k for a totally base v6 up to 34k+ dollars.. only option my mom's doesn't have is navi because she didn't know it was an option (bang) hehe. Yeah it's the V6, and no, the 2.5 isn't that slow. The car only weighs 3000 pounds, don't let the size fool you. 175hp 180torque in a car only 300 pounds heavier than a P5. With the manual transmission, it's quite a bit faster than a Protege5 stock for stock... the automatic (4spd auto, but the 05s and newer have a 5spd) is pretty much an identical match to the P5 performance.

P5 > G5 coupe.. in every way imaginable. When you hit the brakes medium hard, the rears lock up and it goes into a skid.. but it doesn't skid straight, it ALWAYS starts to spin very quickly. it's quite entertaining but I think I'll hang myself if I have to put up with this car for more than a couple days. My spring break starts next Friday, I don't have time for this shit (since I'm underage they won't let me leave the state with the car.. wtf!)

dude where in rochester do you live?? I can't believe there's finally another P5 guy from Rochester on here.. there's a few other Rochester members but they're never on here and the only modded Protege5 I've ever seen in the area was another silver one. Finally decided to...find out how bad the rust on the hatch is...
Holy Crud! Pulled the Protege5 badge off and in there process removed a piece of paint about the size of a Silver dollar. Debadged the hatch, found lots of rust, ground it, Bondo'd it, painted it...found the paint I was given is the wrong shade...even though I was told its the Mazda red...note to self...get right paint.
Too many holes to fill, the bondo I bought only works outside...gotta get the car in the sun...UV cures it...need to do more sanding, priming and painting (once I have the right paint)
Rolled the fenders...accidentally...then on purpose...wheels and tires too wide/wrong offset...need to primer and paint the wheelwells too now.

yeah, that's why i got my hatch debadged and the holes welded - so that the rust won't come back *crosses fingers* now to deal with the rust along the bottom of my front passenger door along the inside seam (boom02)
picked up my flywheel from the shop this afternoon... stock flywheel lightened and balanced. unfortunately they were only able to take 3.5lbs off without compromising the integrity of the flywheel, so i highly doubt i'll feel any difference once it goes in with the new clutch :(
why can't fidanza, etc, make a nice 'medium' weight flywheel, say one around 12lbs? that way you'd get the benefits of a lighter flywheel without the drawbacks that one might experience for a daily driver...

I drive mine daily, like 88 miles a day What are these drawbacks that you speak of? I haven't found anything negative about my fidanza
with the lighter flywheel, don't the revs drop off a lot faster, etc? for me there probably wouldn't be too much of a problem (driving the car), but on the odd occasion when others do, it would likely cause issues... i dunno.
what do you like about the fidanza vs. stock? were there any negatives at all?
so andrea, when do you ge the p5 back on the road and start all your projects?
probably in just under a month. the 14" all seasons from the 626 were taken off and the old 15" winters put on just over a week ago (the 14's never quite fit on the rears, not too sure why) so she's ready to come out from under cover. i'm going to wichita for a week mar 8-14, so likely that next week is when she'll go into the shop for everything. i have a feeling that once i take her out, the 626 will be parked; i've missed driving her SO much.

well on friday i went to the dealer because i had a burnt light bulb and had it replaced in april because one exploded in the housing. well it turned out the reason it blew in the first place and the reason it burnt out was because the rubber piece that goes on at the end of the housing/bulb has a rip or something in it so moisture was getting into the bulb/lense and thats what blew the headlight. so yeah that sucked but now its all better :)

Replaced a fog light bulb, finished my nite shades work, completed my ghetto fabulous EDM tailight setup. Didn't have the harness so I got crazy with the hot glue gun and braced the sockets in place and proceeded to fill in the voids with some clear silicone. I noticed too that neither of my lower amber turn signal bulbs were working. Turns out that both of the sockets were totally corroded. Looks like I need new sockets for them to work again......

I passed the torch on to him since he's in Rochester as well and joined kinda right when I lost my car to the body shop :P
I'm going to call the body shop tomorrow and ask if the car is indoors and if it is, if I can come in and change the oil and clean the interior while it's sitting there. I don't have a final tomorrow so I might as well.

Took off my cf hood, subs, and exhaust, the coil-overs and 17's are coming off later this week. As soon as I close on my house I'm trading it in on a crappy Hyundai or a Suzuki. Then I'm going to get a 240sx as a project car. Hooray for the 5th AZ protege that I know of to loose an engine under 80,000 mi!!!

Might be a waste of time on the interior. All the filler dust will just get it dirty again.

The gauge cluster is not installed. But yeah just asking for some opinions. I'm getting kind of sick and tired of so much red in the gauges...although don't get me wrong, I like them but a little change is not bad either.

If your car is black, buy some gloss black paint and just paint them.
For the longest time (3 years pretty much) mine were paint matched sunlight silver and I didn't mind seeing them that way at all. Now I'll have an MSP bumper though since well the bumper was in pieces after the accident.

aww your bumper was still intact. I still have the big chunk of my bumper with the fog light and side marker chillin in my hatch. I want to keep it for the nostalgia :D
... the body shop thinks I'm so weird. First I tell them that I'm bringing in a different hood to paint match the newly painted stuff to, then I ramble off a list of part numbers for my car that don't match my VIN (from memory) so they don't order the wrong stuff, then I call them to ask if I can come detail the car next week while they're working on it because I miss the car :D

I like it in my garage, so its not for sale. I'm thinking about wiring up some 12v lights in the headlight sockets. I want to wire them up to my garage door light. So they come on when I open or close my garage.
As for reusing it you can see through it just above the fog light where most of the impact into the guard rail took place.
I will give props to rockblocker. My lights were shattered and the rockblocker prevented glass for scattering all over the place.

my baby has been taken out from hibernation and i couldn't be happier :D about a month earlier than i anticipated (so the snow and what will become mucky roads won't be looked upon very fondly), but the 626 sold the day after i put up some posters at work. topped off the tank, put some moisture-free in to help eliminate any condensation that may have accumulated, and put the stockers with the winter kumho's back on her.
i have missed her sooooooooooooooooooooo much. my only problem is having disconnected the battery, all settings in my HU are gone. i have no idea what does what since my audio pimp set everything up for me - sucks not being able to adjust the bass :( gotta see if i can get ahold of him so he can show me how to get things set up again...

Merged onto the highway and passed a couple of tractor trailers, glanced at the speedo and I am doing 75mph....runs so nice and smooth....wait that is a good thing, right? At least in the P5 with the exhaust and intake I have an idea of what speed I am doing by listening to that sweet music. :)
