how are you going to masturbate :(
Technically, in order to masturbate, a man only needs something to create friction, and an active imagination. He could use his other hand, or a knot in a tree. Men will find a way to make it happen...

It was the one from shipping from Canada, with the missing tab. My local dealer shows that tab to be like $6, so if that's the one it needs, I'll just go there and get it. I probably paid more than I should have, but I was afeared of blacking my own lights. And then the NEPOC meet came up like 2 days after I won it. Go figure. (ughdance)

I'll try, but I think I actually WON a race at racing america...that probably won't happen for a long while. I'm planning on building her for STS2. I'm going to start with a "good" suspension, wheels and tires to get used to the car, while I work the little, usual miata bugs out (nothing major, stalls while slowing to a stop, dead cat, and a couple other minor things), then probably do some race seats, followed by engine stuff when money allows. That should hold me for a season or 2. After that (and hopefully a promotion or 2 lol) I'll be able to go full out on the suspension. After that? Who knows, maybe drivetrain swap w/ a 1.8 w/ mazdaspeed diff and go to CSP / SM. Either way, this is going to be a LONG term project :)

I want to get the HardDog HadCore roll bar, so that when I put in the seats, I'll a) fit (it's a little tight w/ stock seats and the bar, and I'd probably need a helmet wherever I went so I didn't bang my head on the bar ever time I drove to the store lol), and b) mount the harnesses while the seats are out as well. Also, that bar will allow me to track the car from time to time when I want to stretch her legs :D

I took off the style bar tonight, but the PO took off the spacers underneath the top nut when he / she installed the bar, so now all I've got is a nut holding my ass in the seat in the event of a wreck. So...until I can get those spacers in (ordering from Mazmart Monday), she's sitting in the parking lot. If I can't get them in before the auto-x next weekend, I'm just gonna re-install the bar and run. Only takes like 15 mins to swap.

Foolish, I dont know if you guys have the same issues with suspension parts in Ga as we do here in Oh, but I had to cut my end links out of my MPV when I swapped them out on our '01 MPV. The rears take about 2 minutes each. We bought Tokico blue's off eBay for $239 shipped for all 4. Even my lovely wife expressed how much better the van drove afterwards.
Foolish
11-11-2006, 01:12 PM
Damn, you got the blues for $239? I couldn't find them for anywhere near that price!! Oh, well, I got KYB's (non adjustable), they come pretty well recommended by the folks over on MPVclub, and I found them at one place for about $50 less than everywhere that I'd seen them, so I'm pretty happy with my purchase. Wish I'd looked around more for a crazy deal like you got!
I don't think I'll have too much trouble with endlinks. I've got an impact gun and there's no road salting in GA. We bought the van used, but it was owned before by someone in GA, too, so it's pretty low-rust!

First one guy wanted to cut the flange off my header and I was like "hell no!". An the installer aparently can't weld. The guy would have done fine if he simply used a mirror the first time. Reguardless it got done. I just wish I could afford a welder. I'm pretty good at it, and I'd fix my own shit.

^^^What happened to the rx-8? More importantly what has you on the verge of jumping ship??
Today = oil change then a drive across town to get wings, a drive back across town for pizza and then back home.
Rolled my rear fenders. I actually started out on the MSP to get a feel for the procedure and then did the P5. My friend held a heat gun and monitored with an infrared thermometer to keep the surface at around 120F (this is to help keep the paint from cracking as you fold the lip in - it worked) as I used the roller. Turns out I didn't really need to roll the fenders  The MSP's fenders had rubber on the lip from the previous owners autoX tires. But when I got to the P5, I found that the tires have been lightly touching further up in the wheel well. There was no evidence of the tire touching the lip like I thought. Well, what the Hell ... I had the roller, so I brought the lip in an extra 1/4" for good measure. Looks like I need to play around with adding a little bit of bump stop to the rear struts. I've got some extras, so I'll just stort horseshoeing different thicknesses around the strut to compliment the bump stop that's in there until I find maximum travel with no rubbing. Then I'll pull the struts and put in a permanant piece ... yay!

haha yeah i know exactly what you mean the two front ones were new and the back two were from last year. Lots of road trips are coming up this year they'll get plenty of use. :)
my dad tried helping me put them on and he put the left rear tire on the right rear side (while i was cleaning the two front wheels and putting them away) and of course i didnt check until after i already had taken the left one off.. he said he didn't know what the arrow on the tire meant haha, then he claims that it doesnt matter.. lol I wish he knew more about cars then i did (which is not much). Yeah, I've been running 91 octane since I went with the longer reach spark plugs and it seems my fuel efficiency has gone down a little as well. I'm at nearly 250 miles with 1/4 tank left - I'm hoping for at least 25 mpg...

I have the long-reach plugs and loads of other mods and am running 87 octane no problem since I switched back to the Protege5 ECU. That being said, I got terrible gas mileage on the first tank after switching to the P5 ECU. 25mpg, the worst I've ever recorded.. I don't think I had ever had less than 28, even on the tank where I did 5 autocross runs :P

I used a special krylon plastic spray paint and put about five coats of clear coat on it. Yah I won't be painting any more interior parts, going to do some carbon fiber work now. I am going to carbon fiber the whole head liner, might wait till spring though because it will probably take forever for the resin to dry in this cold weather.

Oh i wont, im pretty thick skinned! :-) hey im a sponsered r/c driver so what can i say. the antenna doesnt bother me to bad. ok ok maybe a little!
as for the catback and my age, im not old but not young. those rims were a birthday gift to myself. i just celebrated my 30th. so as for catbacks, i either want magnaflow, racing beat or im thinking of going with the tanabe touring axle back and then get a catback made. i did look at the megan racing catbacks but it seems too many people have issues with them moving a lot and the heat sheild hitting the pipes. i dont really want to screw with that.
I bought the wheels through buywheelstoday.com for an amazing price!!!! discount wanted to charge me just under $1400 for rims/tires mounting etc. buywheelstoday charged me $928!! this included rims/tires/20 wheel locks, mounted/balanced them and that was shipped to my door!!! i could not pass it up. and the kumhos are like $110 each or something like that. i have seen the buywheelstoday ad on here but i had already bought the wheels by the time i seen there ad.
Thanks for the nice welcome!!

Again, nothing on the P5 after the tint, but I did fix (for now, at least) the constantly-falling-off-and-jamming-the-damn-door inner panel on the MPV's left slider, and installed MSP front speakers in the front doors.
Amazingly, I got both front door panels off, swapped speakers and got everything back together without any problems! The MSP speakers even had the same connectors as the stock MPV speakers, so they just plugged in.
Also, made a new sig.

if you're looking for a magnaflow, i'm looking to sell mine. it's been on the car about 1.5yrs, and other than the expected bit of dirt, etc, it's in perfect condition. my only reason for selling is a buddy of mine is going to the dark side and getting a 3" turboback exhaust, and so is selling his racing beat exhaust (which i really, really want). :) i have pics, etc, if you'd be interested... no clearance issues at all, and it sounds great :)
New Ramps!
Even with extensions, my trusty ramps would not clear the MSP front lip at stock height. Now that both Pro’s are lowered with MSP lips, they are even more unusable lol! I kept them around for oil changes and under-car work using a convoluted method of reversing them, jacking the car at the lift point behind each tire and then slipping the ramps under the tires. It’s impossible to use jack stands when you need to place the stand where you are physically jacking up the car. Recently I tried jacking the car at the rear jacking point (insert joke here) and this brought the entire side of the car up enough to slip a jack stand under the front point. As I was starting to jack up the other side in the same manner and the entire car was pivoting on one jack stand, the jack stand (and the entire car) slipped within a few millimeters of the garage wall. Well, f@#k this shit! I had found Brute Industries Race Ramps about a year ago, but I couldn’t bring myself to spend $300 (+ shipping and these things are friggin’ huge) on a set of ramps (the 67" XT’s). They are aimed at the DIY Corvette owner, are clearly a quality piece and recently have found a rabid following with low clearance sport-compacts. Well, I had convinced the wife that these were now genuinely needed and would make a great Xmas present for me (I love being a guy) when I started searching for the best price. I lucked out and found a group-buy going on at an STi forum and blended in with the crowd and got 20% off :) http://www.raceramps.com/ (http://www.raceramps.com/)
Standard ramps Vs 56" Race Ramps – The difference will be even more dramatic with the longer/higher XT’s on the way to me:

I may be heading to the hospital in an hour or two (no worries, nothing to see here.. just barely conscious) but I have enough love for my Protege that I won't wake her up for the half mile journey to either hospital's urgent care walk-in clinic.. I'll let her rest safe and sound in the garage plugged into her electric blanket (block heater)

(peep) hmmm... I love my car, so here are my excu-er, I mean reasons(rtfm)
you have a point, (poke)however 5 degrees (guess) and winds gusting to 50 mph for a wind chill of -45 are really really strong reasons to procrastinate. Tomorrow morning the winds are forecasted to reach 80 mph with winds chills that can kill you(shocked), and the rest of the week the winds chills are going to be around -20. Saturday I can finally steal the garage from my wife long enough to change the oil, put on winter wipers, install spark plug wires, and do the AWR trailing links. Afterward I will regain control of the garage since my now drivable car will be the car of choice for the 40 mile commute to work (the Jeep Liberty is pushed around by the wind a little bit).
Not to mention the sun sets @ 1630 and rises @ 0930 my daylight working time doesn't extend past my 12 hour working days and the babysitting of my 6 month old daughter after work. (coffee)
Unfortunately, I have to schedule my car maintenance time around my other more important responsibilities (like feeding my baby and working to pay for two house payments)

Let us know how it turns out... get better, headwounds suck
Afterward I will regain control of the garage since my now drivable car will be the car of choice for the 40 mile commute to work (the Jeep Liberty is pushed around by the wind a little bit).

for 91/93. I'm giving it a go with premium fuel.. back before I had the MP3 ECU I got great mileage on 87 but maybe now with other mods I have and the long reach plugs.. who knows. I'll see how it goes.
I'm sure the mileage will improve a ton this tank either way because I'll be making the cross-northeast journey back to CT. I'll do 93 on the way back to CT and 87 on the way back to NY from CT to try and make this test as fair as possible.

if you're looking for a magnaflow, i'm looking to sell mine. it's been on the car about 1.5yrs, and other than the expected bit of dirt, etc, it's in perfect condition. my only reason for selling is a buddy of mine is going to the dark side and getting a 3" turboback exhaust, and so is selling his racing beat exhaust (which i really, really want). :) i have pics, etc, if you'd be interested... no clearance issues at all, and it sounds great :)

Well I haven't done much with my P5 today other than driving to and from work. Before I go to bed I need to get my snow wheels/tires/lugnuts/lugwrench into the trunk or back seat for the trip back home tomorrow. I don't want to be stuck in CT with snow on the ground and my potenzas haha. I wish I didn't have to leave directly from work to go home but going home post-work is in the opposite direction of going back to CT.
Can't wait to get back to New England! Thanksgiving break is the longest break I'll have had since last December.. wow how time flies.

"Raced" a Yellow p5 on my normal work path this morning. He lives in the same town (Clayton) as I and drives the same route to school, as I do to work. Of course, by "race" I mean spirited driving, not actual racing. I tried to get his attention, but he must've thought I was insane, or he was truly concentrating on the beats bumping out of his car!

Ok so here's the results of my 93 octane testing:
27.8mpg doing my daily commute in the city and highway traffic crap. I had been getting 25, didn't change any habits but that's still not totally conclusive.
35.8 - 100% highway driving from Rochester to the NY/Mass border. Cruise at 68mph and only going slightly faster to overtake once or twice. No stops, tires at 32psi front 34psi rear.
:D good to know she still has it in here to eek out crazy good gas mileage hooray
