hey kuda i saw a carbon fiber gas lid on ebay not too long ago.
I have seen that too....it is actually a factory gas lid that has carbon fiber overlaid on it. You just swap your lid for this one.

This is the one I have seen
http://cgi.ebay.com/02-03-Mazda-Protege-5-Carbon-Fiber-Fuel-Door-Gas-Lid_W0QQitemZ300023463766QQihZ020QQcategoryZ33642Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item3000 23463766
It says it is 100% c/f and these are the specs "Carbon Fiber Weave 2x2 Twill, Tow Size 3K, Weight 5.7 oz". I really don't know much about c/f to comment on the quality, but the pic looks decent. If you do opt to buy one you should get a quote for the red weave. Would look nice with the c-red, but not sure how well it would flow with the rest of your c/f pieces.

Just installed AWR front motor mount - 88 durometer. Best $60.00 I've spent lately. I love it and very little vibration in the cabin. The install only took 10 minutes. When I took out my stock mount I was suprised how bad it was considering I only have 39,500 miles on my car. Oh well.....another mod ftw.

i've had the titanium white luminics (hi and low) in the car for a couple months now and really like them; still need to change the fog light bulbs to the jdm yellow luminics.
speaking of which, i noticed that the luminics fog light bulbs have a wire attached??? i've not changed the fog light bulbs before, so i'm kind of stumped by this. for those that have changed these bulbs before, is this normal? what exactly needs to be done when changing these ones?
and to stay on topic, what i did to my P5 last night... very lightly curbed the front pass 'speed rim :( very minor rash just on the very edge, but it still pisses me off royally. now i have to decide if it's worth $250 to have the rim repainted while she sits over winter or if i can live with the rash... sigh

yeah, i may yet... but i'm currently paying for two cars (my new 626 for winter) so money is going to be tight for a bit :(
plus, i still want to powdercoat the stockers bronze... i know this would look GREAT on the P5 (LOVE bronze on mid blue), but i'm thinking once these winter tires are done - on the steelies - i'm going to go to the stockers for winter. BUT, now that i have the 626, i may just leave it with the steelies and keep the stockers for autox like i was originally going to... decisions, decisions

Anyone have the OEM P5 car cover? What's the quality like? I am parking the beast for winter (outside, unfortunately :( ), and don't want to leave her unprotected.
It's a good price, and every aftermarket, 4-layer, custom-fit car cover is $150 and up. I don't want to buy the OEM one though if it won't offer the same protection as the aftermarket ones, or if it has fewer layers.
Any info/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

02pro5 - it wasnt "hard" it was just time consuming, you have to let the adhesive remover soak in and then scrub alot. and then do it again, and again... not hard work, like i said, time consuming.
rednecks - how much did you pay to have it done? i want to do it professionaly but i also want to wait untill i have the money for them to shave my roof rack rails, my badges, fix some scratches on my front and rear bumper, and a dent in the side of my car. sorry got side tracked, how much was the badge shaving?

It was all part of my custom paint job. Fix the hail damage on the roof and tops of the doors. Shave the rear emblems, weld the holes then grind them smooth. Paint the car. My painter did throw in the blue pearl for free.
If he wasn't a friend of mine the entire paint job and body work would have been almost $5K.
So how much for just the shaving? I don't have a clue. You could stop by several paint& body shops & get estimates.
what exactly did you use to scrub the adhesive with? just like a soft microfiber cloth?
There aren't any holes under the door guards just a bunch of sticky glue.
I used a rubber wheel that is used for removing pinstripes. It attaches to a drill and spins creating friction and heating up the glue. It removes the glue with out scratching the car. Have to keep it moving or it could burn the paint.

I did some custom intake work as well. I used a stock intake hose and connected it through the right fender opening. Not sure if it helps airflow, but it's not hurting anything.

new plans in the works for Morrigan... won't be anything crazy, but i am SO looking forward to it :D
can i talk about Mairead here? there's no other place for me to talk about her :( and she needs some lovin' too. i picked up the new switch for the lights today; hopefully that will fix the low-beam issue (pouring rain + no garage = delayed install). also got a quote on a new exhaust for her as the current muffler has about had the biscuit; just going to get a used magnaflow (cheap!), and maybe next spring free up her breathing a little :)

(shocked)NO, there is no room in this thread for a 626!(enguard)
after careful reading,(rtfm), I have come to the conclusion that the "Ranch" would be a better place.

finnaly got my car up on a lift yesterday to check the damage i had done to the underside when i was in maine. Long behold I cracked my gt-spec lower tie bar. I bent the shit out of it and cracked it at the end where it bolts up to the chasis. looks like I'm gunna have to take it off. there goes about a hundred bucks.

Detailed the engine bay for the first time since I've owned the car. Looked like it had never been cleaned. It's looking good now! Also detailed the tires/wheels and used Meguiar's Endurance tire dressing. I love that stuff - lasts for a few weeks instead of 2 days and has a nice balance between satin and gloss.
I wanted to wash the car, but there isn't enough daylight left to get all that done in one evening after work.

one of my bulbs randomly doesnt work.. Im sure I have a loose connection.. I jiggled it around and it came on.. Temporary fix FTW.. Didnt feel like tracing wires in the rain so I'll look more into it this weekend..

well as long as the problem is in the HID system and not the car's wiring, it should be an easy tracing job, especially if you don't have a helios kit where the ignitor and ballast are separate units.

yea, i have that kit which is top notch, the seperate housings for the ingnitor and ballast make mounting and wiring a pain

You guys know how I love to entertain you at my expense. ;) 2 of my gauges had red "condoms" as Mark calls them. One was still close to red, the other, not so much. Tonight, I decided to take em both off so it would at least be the same color, be it white. When I took the boost gauge off I heard it hissing, awesome. leak. I tried movin the line and tightening the fitting with the same result, then it came to me. Gum! It'll be fixed this weekend, but hey, it works for now! (first)

Well installed the new RR caliper, bled all the brakes, greased all the calipers, pulled the malfunctioning 6 CD player, swapped the cassette player and put the single CD player back in.
Oh yeah, she turned 120,000 today.
