4-1 thunder headers

a friend just installed 4-1 headers on his zm-de. he's liking it so far.

Header. It's a header. There is only one head. If there would two head's, and hence two headers, then it would be headers. Just think.

Probubly 5-10 hp. But it's a real header. Thats all that matters.

The one you're looking for is labeled as lynx&mazda1.6. For the 2.0L guys it should be the one labeled Lynx RS. The Protege equivalent in Taiwan is called the Ford Tierra though I think they also sold the Protege itself under Mazda as well. Here the Tierra is called the Lynx hence the naming on the thumbnails on his gallery.

Also here's a dyno run from a guy with an FS-DE with the 4-2-1 Thunder header. It's not the same as the 4-1 header I posted above but as you can see from the dyno he did get a bit of an increase assuming that the whp @ stock for the FS-DE is at the realm of 105hp. I think he also had the intake and exhaust piping changed.

The gains look great.

ANd california emisions 1.6l's have 2 cats. Dont make me break out the camera. This header would keep both of them. The federal emmisions pros would have no problems with a long style header. This thing comes with both an O2 bung and an egr bung. Even a test pipe to get rid of the pesky cat for the guys who prefer to be illegal/ fed emmisions.

That is friggen awesome. It is about time that SOMEONE atleast made a header for us 1.6 guys. Kind of a shame that we have to go out of the country to get it, but great that one is finally available to us. Sounds like it might be cheaper than the OBX one too. Thats even better then. Someone needs to find out who can/will distribute this for us and get to the states real quick.... Been waiting a LONG TIME!

It's definatly not the same as the OBX, mainly because the OBX is a long tube and this one is a shorty style header. Oh yeah, plus this one is made for the 1.6 L

FYI all---I found the company that makes these. They also make a header for the 2.0
and 1.8L engines, assuming they are the same as U.S. spec.

IF there is enough serious interest in this header, I can inquire further as I have contacts in Taiwan that can help me import these. Let me know either in this thread or PM me.
Depending on how much interest there is, I would be willing to pursue this further. In the meantime I'll see what I can find out about the actual specs and applications for all three 3rd gen engines, including pricing.
MODS: please note this is a GI only...I'm not trying to sell anything here yet. If it comes to that I will make the necessary arrangements to either become a vendor myself or work with another existing vendor.

because we (germany) pay taxes according to the emission standards of our cars fulfill. changing emission characteristics (without tuev re-approval) = car is not positively approved for the particular tax level anymore + still driving the car = tax related <crime> => car shut down, going to court, rap sheet entry..... not for 5hp!
