Ok, I have been searching for a few days now, and didnt realy find a solid answer. So, im pretty sure my wastegate is stuck open. I can get 10psi of boost, but it takes forever to get there. Im almost sure my turbo is fine, but I cant afford to buy a whole new turbo. So I want to know If I can just replace the actuator. And if so, were to get one? And do I need to replace the rod too? Or is it just the actuator that causes it to be stuck open. I just want my car to run like it use to (deadhorse
thanks,
Ian

it can be done. The same happened to mine & they replaced the part which was stuck open & not the entire turbo & it runs fine now...but I got mine under warranty

there are no aftermarket replacements, but I saw a thread saying forge motorsports may start making one. The only option I know of is to buy an old stock one off of someone.
The actuator itself can be replaced, but I think it would be a major pain in the ass involving removing the turbo + exhaust manifold assembly, since there is no room to get at the bolts really.

Ok, so I took a long screwdriver today, and I can move the actuator rod back and forth, and its pretty smooth, but do you still think that just because I can move it, it could still not be closing all the way?

I just read on another thread that Apocman did replace his with a silver one. There is also another thread that discusses it in more detail but I don't remember where.
4drboost, your actuator's diaphram could be leaking. Blow into the sensor hose into the wastegate, if I recall, and some jump in if I am wrong, you should not be able to continually blow into it unless you have a really powerful lubgs.

Yea, I thought about that, but if I had a hole in the diaphram, then wouldnt I have realy bad boost spike? Or no, I could be wrong.

There are replacements, you just got to look for an internal t2 one.

www.atpturbo.com (http://www.atpturbo.com) i just orderd a new 6psi wastegate from them for my turbo since mine seems to have a leak some where. it was only like 68 bucks shipped.

IS this the wastegate or the actuator? And how easy is it to replace? I was under the impression that the turbo was hermatically sealed.

that would be the actuator and im not sure about the sealing. all I know is that the wastegate actuator that I purchased is a direct replacement for the one that currently is on our turbo's now.

Dear whore,
Is this the correct one? I am assuming it as it is the only 6PSI model I could find.
Thank you eva so MUCH!

Ok, so heres the wierd thing. Last night was the coldest night all year. So this morning, on the way to work, my turbo was working just fine. Spooled up quick, nice and loud. Do you think it could still be the wastegate? Could weather effect it so much?
thanks,
Ian
