I was just wondering if anyone would know why my CEL came on....When i first installed my vibrant exhaust I had the o2 sensor in the wrong hole so I figured that was why it turned on but now that I fixed it, i dont know why it is on again?

Do you just have the sensor plugged directly into the exhaust? If so, you'll need the HELP Anti-Fouler Plug or a MIL eliminator to fix it. You have to remove the sensor from direct flow or use the MIL to trick the PCM. I used the HELP fix.

It always a good idea to get the code read anyway.

hmm doesnt the vibrant exhaust come with a hi-flo cat though? Did you put the o2 sensor in the bung before the cat or after the cat?

You have 2 O2 sensors. One sticks out throw the heatshield. And the other one goes on the j-pipe or aftermarket downpipe. So you have it right in the pipe, you'll need to use the HELP or MIL trick.

Vibrant exhaust has two bungs on the j-pipe/mid-pipe. One is before (in front of) the Cat and one is behind (after the cat). You need to use the one behind the cat, but to do so you will need to extend your O2 sensor wiring. If you do not want to extend the wiring, then use the spark plug anti-fouler trick and put the O2 sensor in the bung before the cat. You should not throw a CEL with either of these solutions.

yeah i did extend the wires with my friend the other day and we put the o2 sensor in the correct spot, which is why i am confused

Wait, did you have it in one spot, threw a cel and then moved it or is that where you originally put it?

If you moved it after the fact, the CEL isn't going ot magically turn off. It will take a few days depending on average driving distance.

If it has always been in the correct spot, I would suggest getting the codes read at a local Advance Auto, they do that for free, also Midas. You might have something else wrong (unlikely). In either case, you can also get MIdas or Advance Auto to rest the codes and the CEL will go back out.

If it comes back on, then the only thing I could say is that your exhaust is not in spec and you will need to trick it.

I have a non foul with my corksport set up and I still get a CEL with spirited driving then after a day or two it shut's off. Not sure if it helps though.

That non-fouler trick dodn't work for me at all, but it worked for my neighbor though. The PCM hated me for that and ran so rich I almost stalled. I had to reset the PCM and make my own MIL eliminator. Works like a champ ever since.
