IRVINE, Calif. — The all-wheel-drive 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 will have a base price of $28,555, including a $560 destination charge, when it goes on sale later this month. A top-of-the-line Grand Touring model starts at $30,485, including destination, the company said.
The Mazdaspeed 6 Sport comes standard with a turbocharged, direct-injection 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 274 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Grand Touring model adds xenon headlights, black leather-trimmed seats, eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, and heated front seats and door mirrors. The vehicle will be available only at approximately 300 Mazdaspeed dealers in the United States. Mazda says only the sedan version of the Mazda 6 will get the "Mazdaspeed" treatment.
