SEMA: Mazdaspeed Accessorizes the RX-8, the MX-5 and More
Date Posted 11-02-2005
LAS VEGAS — The Mazdaspeed brand takes center stage on the Japanese automaker's display here, with accessorized versions of the RX-8 (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Mazda/model=RX-8), the MX-5 Miata (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Mazda/model=MX-5%20Miata), the Mazda 3 (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Mazda/model=MAZDA3), and the Mazda 6 (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Mazda/model=MAZDA6).
Mazdaspeed accessories include performance exhaust systems, springs, shocks, struts, stabilizer bars, brake parts, and interior/exterior trim pieces. Also included are entertainment systems and components, including MP3-compatible systems, PhatBox digital media players, and Sirius Satellite Radio systems.
The Mazdaspeed RX-8 features the works: full body kit, sport-tuned suspension, sport muffler, and interior styling pieces.
The Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata sports new front and rear fascias, side sills, rear lip spoiler, and forged aluminum wheels with 18-inch BFGoodrich g-Force KDW tires. Another MX-5 has been modified by Troy Lee Designs, with aero body mods, 18-inch wheels and tires, and a custom paint scheme.
A Mazdaspeed-accessorized Mazda 3 gets a more aggressive front fascia and lower lip spoiler, custom grille, side sill add-ons, and rear lip spoiler and underskirt. Bridgestone tires are mounted on 18-inch MS-TII aluminum wheels. Performance is tweaked with the addition of a short-throw sport shifter, lightweight flywheel, and sport clutch.
What this means to you: Mazda is trying to get louder about its sporty lineup. Just yelling, "Zoom, Zoom" won't cut it anymore.
