Does anyone know exacly which MP3 id tag version(s) that our stock Kenwood head unit supports? I mad an MP3 CD the other day out of iTunes and I just get "NO TEXT" on the head unit.

bump. Anyone I know there was an old thread a while ago that covered this, but I don't know if the thread was posted with this direct question or it was about something else initially.

I used Nero to burn mine. I think its Nero version 9 and it comes with this easy application selector called "smartstart". Its basicly designed to be "idiot-proof". Just enable CD text and it should work.
the tags are in ID3 format using either ID3v1 or ID3v2. if you have winamp (or any other media player), they usually read this info from the file to output the name (otherwise it just uses the filename minus the .mp3 extension). i believe that NERO burns the ID3 info on to the disc along with the file
oh yeah, if you really want to read the names but "NO TEXT" shows up, you could just set the headunit to display the entire filename
