I have looked all over this site and there are many threads about exhaust. Most of them are about MP5 and MSP. I want to know what cat back exhausts fit my car, I have a 2001 Mazda Protege ES 2.0l. Does a MP3 exhaust fit, I know that the mp5 does not fit. I just want to find as many companys that make an exhaust for my car, so i can look at them all before I buy a cat back. Thanks to anyone that helps.

yes...any exhaust for a protege 2.0L will fit, as long as its not for the p5.
the p5 will fit, just be a few inches short. but does not look BAD.

MP3 exhaust is the same, dimensionally, as the sedan exhaust.
So, now then:
- Magnaflow
- Racing Beat
- Brullen
- Bosal
- Tsudo
- NRG
And a few others.
Tsudo and NRG may as well be the same thing. They're eBay cat-backs. Cheap, but very, very loud and somewhat poor fitment from what I understand.
Bosal exhaust rusts and falls appart, according to some folks. 1sty (Craig) had one on his turbo MP3 back when, and had issues with it.
Brullen is pretty hard to get, as you have to get in touch with them, and they custom make it at the shop. Fitment is pretty good, maybe half an inch off of stock, and they offer a FULL exhaust, headers and all, but it can be very pricey. And they'll customize it to how loud you want it.
Racing Beat and Magnaflow are the two top contenders for popularity. The Magnaflow piping comes in at 16 gauge, 2.25" piping, one resonator, one muffler, and is reasonably quiet, from what I've heard of it on MSP's, and whatnot. The Racing Beat exhaust is slightly thicker walled 2.35ish" piping, also 304 stainless, as is the Magnaflow, and is the quietest of the aftermarket options, by popular oppinion.
Hope this helps!

It's the same dimensions. It does use a Racing Beat axle-back, as does the Mazdaspeed, which shouldn't be confused with the Mazdaspeed/Sport Exhaust with the Mazdaspeed engraving on the right side and the round tip. That one is actually made by Borla (Another cat-back option for the Protege), and sold by Mazda dealers as the Mazda Sport Exhaust (P5 and Sedan versions available).

Which did you get? The one for the Mazdaspeed Protege? Does it have a brace between the muffler, and the tailpipe? If so, that's the one on the Mazdaspeed Protege, made by Racing Beat.
If it's just a straight tailpipe, with the rolled, round tip, and Mazdaspeed etched on one side, that's the Mazda Sport Exhaust.

it was a round rolled tip...with mazdaspeed etched in the side. but yes it did have a brace.
