Dang it!!! I have a rattle under the hood. It is only when I am about 3k RPM and pressing the gas. Sounds like coins in the engine. Not good not good. It is just at 3000 since last oil change. I did not get synthetic oil last time for the first time in a year. Last time I went a little over with my synthetic oil change. I am going to get the oil changed again today and see if that helps. Going with Royal Purple.

Maybe you dropped a bolt in the engine bay and now it's trapped in some heat sheild. And the harmonics of the engine make the bolt rattle at 3k.

Is your dip-stick all the way in? I would check for loose stuff (bolts, fasteners, etc). That tends to be the culpret most of the time.

I am going to check. I did not hear it yesterday. Now since I am waiting to fix my great kenwood MP919 radio (GRRR Ribbon Cable!) I do not have a radio and I can hear every little thing coming from the car. I am going to try to find all the change in the car and get that out of there. It is anoying. Then I am going to check the bolts on the engine. Thanks for the help!

Only way to find what it is would be to to pop the hood with the engine running and rev the engine manually at the throttle body. Just rev is up and listen, most likely a loose heat shield.
