Hey, just bought a 2003 Black MSP. Picked it up for 15k with 50k miles. Pristine condition... No complaints.

Bout a week ago, we got about 8 inches of rain, and I drowned my 2003 Mitsu Eclipse GTS... Lil' bummed, but the MSP is, by far, a better engineered (sp?) car...

I've done some research, and I come from the world of Mitsu's, DSM's, and Evo's, so I'm not completely virgin to forced induction, but this site seems to put things in perspective...

Just a few newb questions...

Is Black a Rare Color on this car?

Are there any free mods on the car? Any free tricks to free up some ponies? (the DSM influence in me)

And the dealer and a few (and most likely unknowlegeable) people told me that the black came in 2003.5, but the site says otherwise... And I would assume you guys are correct... Stupid question, I know, but I need to hear it strait from the horse's mouth...

as far as free mods go, idk any off hand. there are some mods u can do yourself at home, but itll take a long time. search for 'VTCS removal'

black along with orange was 03 then 03.5 was blue, grey, silver, and yellow. at least thats how i remember it. i wouldnt say its rare but then again the car itself is kinda rare.

Welcome to the forum. I'd like to say that the MSP is a wonderful car in it's "Stock Boost" form. If you plan to run the turbo harder, please do alot of reading or get in touch with anyone who has Zoom ZOom Boom on their avatar. We all know what it takes to blow up a Protege so we might be able to tell you what not to do to your new car.

Another Newb Question, where do I find my production #? Is it embedded in the VIN? Is it stamped somewhere?

There is a sticky on one of the threads around here in the MSP section. Or you can call Mazda USA and ask. YOu just need your VIN.
