uhh... it doesn't just disappear.... I bet someone doing your oil change decided it was a GREAT idea to leave it off
that piece of plastic is heavy and is SUPER strong... I've never seen one that brute force before... it's obviously a difuser... you NEED it to maintain cooling efficiency and aerodynamics

I can't see HOW it would've just fell off... its one BIG piece of plastic that runs across the bottom of the car... you ought to have heard something loud IF it actually came off! that and there should be like 6 or 7 bolts that hold that bitch in place

well i think if it came loose it would have from not stopping soon enough at a parking space and it prob got caught on the concrete thing..but i haven't heard anything cause thats something that you would know if it came off while u were driving

I hope the shit talkers know that we are talking about the piece of plastic that goes UNDER the car... not the stupid plastic valve cover

It is not for cooling or aerodynamics.....it is just a simple dust sheild/cover. I'm almost positive Mazda list it as a dust shield. I took mine off as soon as I got the car. And that was almost 2 years ago and no problems.

I hope you get a rock thrown up from the other car and you fuck up your engine. If you don't know shit what you are talking about, please don't talk.
soo...its for protection then??

Yes. It protectes the underside of your engine.

Yeah it is really going to protect the engine for a rock.
You should really take your own advice.
It is a dust sheild as stated by Mazda.
Protection I guess you can say is it to protect you from the elements....dirt!

It shouldn't be covered. You can't just lose one unless you do a lot of damage.

stops from shit spraying up through you engine bay, and in particular over your belts....

You could always go accuse the Oil Change Dude and see if he will find it or pay you for it.

hes talking about the plastice piece onthe under side of the car, not the one covering the engine. (hand)

AZMZ3 is correct. The cover is nothing more than a dust/dirt shield and is absolutely not needed for proper operation.
If something is run over that would damage anything on the underside of the engine, it would go right through the flimsy undercover.
Mine has been off since the first oil change I did. No problems to report.

All I know is, if this damn piece is for protection, it isn't that strong. Four months of driving down snow covered gravel roads in Saskatchewan, and the thing was cracked and falling off. Just the front part behind the bumper was holding mine on. My redneck mechanic got out the baler wire and, shazam good as new. Come to think of it none of that plastic is very useful for me cause my front bumber cover was ripped off by the driver side headlight as well. My only question is if it is for protection how come 80% of the cars out on the road don't have one ie. my truck, my dad's minivan, my sisters taurus, etc, etc.

There's no way it could have come off without you knowing. I hit a pretty good sized nutria doing 65 and all it did was crack the plastic. One dead nutria and a bunch of fur wedged in the crack it put in my skid plate.
all i can say is..it was there that morning and later it wasn't didn't hear or see ANYTHING...doesn't matter anyways...its been fine so far...and if i need it i will buy one
