I need someone with a 99-00 to help me out and look in their engine bay
on the passenger side of the engine bay, there is a valve just beside the intake manifold with 3 vacuum connections.....one connection goes straight to the intake manifold, one goes to the fuel pressure regulator, and the third one points straight back to firewall and mine doesnt have anything connected, although you can tell by it's condition something was...i couldnt find any loose hoses, so where does it go ?????

that's the right spot though....
jster the vacuum nipple that points straight back towards the firewall is the empty one...whats it connect to ????

I have VTCS?? What is that? My car is a 2000 dx, why does my have it and your doesnt? It runs under the intake manifold to a black plactic like box under the intake manifold.

VTCS= Variable Tumble Control System it helps lower emissions when the car is warming up.....
Yours is a California model, thus it must meet california emissions standards which are lower than most of the nation
according to the FSM, one box there is the VTCS solonoid, and the other is the PRC solonoid....
ask the 2.0L guys about VTCS..it sucks ass
It only came on California models of 1.6L's....because even without it the 1.6L was already a ULEV(ultra low emissions vehicle)
So the solonoid you have there that is connected to the intake manifold and fuel regulator, where's the 3rd line go ???

Yeah, stupid cali emissions.
One goes to the fuel reg, one intake, the third goes under the manifold. Let me check it again and get a better look. Be back in a few minutes.

Cool, cool....please find out....this bouncing idle is pissing me off bad!!!!! It's the nipple that points straight back at the firewall

ok the the first solonid in the front has a t fitting, one goes to the regulartor in the attached picture, not the one on the fuel rail, and the other goes into a black plastic box attached to the underside of the intake manifold, it goes into the box and exits and loops and returns into the intake manifold. The second soloniod in connect to the regulator on the fuel rail and the other line connects to the manifold. dont know what that black box is under the manifold it is attached too.

shit ,...mine has has 3 connections...one to the manifold, one to the fuel pressure regulator and one ????
yours is different...thanks anyways

plug it off for now, see if tha cures some of the problems. tommorow i have the day off from work, ill go look under my hood, cause for some reason we have the same vacuum setup than the other guys, i dont have what jster has.. i think he has the california emmissions one, we have federal emmisions..

ok, from my fuel pressure reg., it goes to one sensor on the intake manifold and thats a dead end after that.. the other one goes to my Cruise control , dead end.. theother one goes along my intake the a 3 way selinoid valve then to map sensor.. i think jster has a differant intake manifold, i dont have that valve thing at the botom, looks like he has VICS on his intake mani..

Yeah that 3 way solonoid is what I am talking about !!!!
one line goes to the fuel pressure reg, one straight over to the manifold and the other one on mine is missing, but the nipple points straight back to the firewall...where does that one connect to on yours ????

it crosses on the back of the manifold, goes to the seliniod/sensor then it goes back right into the manifold, the only one that runs along the firewall is the cruise control. i got a bunch of pics, i hope this helps.

maybe I need to get a pic of what Im talking about
the 3 way solonoid sits right next to the intake manifold....there are 3 vacuum nipples on it...one curves around to the FPR, one goes straight to the intake manifold, and the third one on mine has no hose on it, but the nipple points straight backward...
are you saying on yours it has a hose connected to the intake manifold too ???

ok, ill dig under the intake manifold to see where it snakes too, i know it doesnt go to the fire wall, and from the vacuum diagram it hooks up under the intake manifold towards the center

I meant that the vacuum nipple without a hose is the one pointing in the direction of the firewall, not that it necessarily goes there
and one of the lines on mine IS hooked up to the intake manifold
another is hooked to the fuel pressure regulator, those are fine.
the third one I mentioned that isnt hooked to anything now, points straight backwards, that way you know EXACTLY which one to follow ...

please someone help !!!
someone get some pics of their PRC solonoid next to the intake manifold so I can see how the vaccum lines route
or just tell me where the one that points backward goes
Shane5425

k, i just videoed my vaccum line system... tell me if this helps.. that is the 3 routes in that vacinity.

no...I looked at your video..your PRC solonoid is installed pointing a different way that is explained why you were confused by the "pointing at the firewall" reference...and it looks a bit different than mine...yours looks like all the fsm stuff from protege5.ugly, but mine doesnt exactly look like that
best look at it is video 3....see the hose pointing up that starts parallel to the green connector ???
now look at the black part right next to it that points 90 degrees from it. On mine that is a brass vacuum nipple !!!! and it isnt connected to anything
I need to take a pic but I cant find my camera
this is driving me nuts...plugging or unplugging it made no difference when the idle was bouncing around, so i think it should definitely be connected to a vacuum source with some kind of negative pressure on it.....

Ok I feel really dumb...after looking at another members car that has the same setup as mine, and reading some threads about the PRC, that vacuum nipple serves no purpose..the only thing supposed to be on there is a little cover that looks like a knob......
I guess my problem lies elsewhere
after reading towards multiple posts, people with rolling idle and bucking on acceleration are usually having EGR problems
