That sucks.Right after I got one of mine fixed, I hit a melon sized rock in DC and F'd up the bead on it. That's why I'm rocking stock wheels with 205/55's on 'em!

I work in DC, so I gotta go. Was looking at 15's and trying to get rid of the 17's I have sitting around.

Damn man, that sucks ass. Hopefully it was the one wheel that was slightly curbed?

If it makes you feel better, I curbed one of my BBS's last week pulling out of a tight Arby's drive-thru. I think I'm going to get a brand new rim.

Damn...that sucks. But I can truly say I know how you feel ;)

Seems like a lot of MTMA people are bending or breaking rims lately. You, me, AbbyVonNormal, DiS, SIBalla, and probably others too. This can't be good for publicity! 'Join MTMA and bend one rim within 90 days guaranteed!'

haha i didnt realize that was written in the bylaws...but i think it goes with the territory of driving on roads that you have to deal with snow plows tearing up the roads...cant wait to get a company car and leave my baby in the garage except for fun driving

Ive gone through 2 cracked wheels and 3 bent ones thanks to NJ roads.

Ive given up on low pros and have just moved on to 16's not even any curb rash in the last year. Although I do miss a set of good low pro tires. Maybe for the summer ill go back.

i dont have any pics of what it looked like with the tire off cuz i didnt have my digicam at home and i left the wheel there, but these are what it looked like with the tire on...it really doesnt look that bad but when the tire came off there was a spiderwebbing crack over 6" long and almost to the center of the wheel

Damn! Your wheels look pretty strong and still manage to bent like this.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine who drives an Accord coupe a while ago. He drove over some construction zone and have the same bent at the inside of the wheel.

Holy shit. That must have been one hell of a pothole.

Thats not so bad
take it to another shop. That is very repairable.
Although because they are forged it would be better to just get a new one. If they repair it it will never be as stong and just bend again.

jbiird317
01-12-2006, 10:07 PM
yeah it wasnt a pothole as much as it was a bridge joint under repair, leaving like a 3" height diff between the road and bridge, unmarked and i hit it at like 55....had i known it would f up my wheel like this i wouldve gotten a police report so i could at least try and get money from penndot

as far as taking it to another shop, one guy said he could do it, but that the integrity of the wheel would be compromised so much that i would probably have to replace it within 6 months anyway, so i figure its not worth the money to fix it once then replace it later...
