View Full Version : MSP woofer rattling... retainer suggestions?

So I finally took the hour to remount the factory amp back in it's correct location. The PO had mounted it with velcro to the trunk carpet, something about a different woofer. Anyway, now that the weight of the amp is hanging from the subwoofer, the woofer bangs against the rear tray when on a bumpy road. I can even resonate it with my hand, with the trunk open and standing behind the car, so it's obvious its not secure in some way.

Anyone know how the woofer box is supposed to be secured to the rear tray? Is there something that needs to be tightened, or did the PO take it apart, and not use all the securing tabs?

Thanks!

Home depot has some 1/4" thick foam tape. put some along the rear edge of the amp rack. Solved the problem for me.

Thanks, that was the route I was going to go sooner or later, wedging foam in the rear edge. I wanted to be sure that I wasn't missing a retainter that had gotten loose. I just want to make sure I'm not stuffing more packing in there every 3 months, making matters worse then if I had just tightened what was there.
