I just installed a 22-2293 in my 2.3 mazda 3 5 door. I noticed that it was much shallower than OEM. THe outside fit was correct. Am I ok here?

VicThe filter part is much thinner. It will work just fine. The exterior rubber is the same as oem.

I installed a K&N last week in 2.0 Mazda3, it is about half the thickness of OE filter. So you probably have the correct part.
BTW.... correct part number is 33-2293

Yup, the K&N is much thinner, but works ok. I've had mine in for about a month now...
