So I had my car at the track and while going from 2nd to 3rd it wouldnt go into first. Coasted the rest of the way and now it is stuck in 4th. There is no neutral wenever i let go of the clutch it stalls. I have to start up from 4th gear. and it wont go into a bunch of gears except for 3 and 4th. Also while driving in gear i can easily switch from 3rd to neutral and 4th and it will always be engaged. Any ideas? I checked and its all connected on the outside of the transmission box . Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

oh boy. be ready to pay $2000 to have your tranny rebuilt. Mazda USA is not going to be paying for this one I'll bet.

Try bleeding the clutch slave cylinder. I recently had the same thing happen in my Probe. You can probably get it out of gear while trying to start it.

Well, I know I have a bad clutch slave cylinder so I was going to replace it anyway. I initially thought I had transaxle problems. Apparently its not uncommon for hydraulic operated clutches to have this problem of being stuck in gear or rolling with the clutch depressed when starting.

Jack the car up and look for this on the front of the transaxle

Get a friend to help you bleed it. Don't let your clutch resorvior empty or air get in to the system. Put a tube on the bleeder valve to catch the fluid.
