2003 Mazdaspeed Protege (Canada)

Just curious as to what a new Mazdaspeed Protege cost back in 2003? There is one for sale in my province, and I am taking a serious look at it since there was only 250 made for Canada and maybe about 5-10 in my province. I just want to know if he is asking too much for it.

hey since we are on this topic....when were the 03.5's actually sold? Im trying to figure out when the first owner of my car bought mine. What months/year did they go on sale? End of 03?

And where do i look on my car to see when it was made?

If you call up mazda (the same number to call to get your msp #) they can tell you what week it was on the production line from the vin. When I called they said that my car wa built in July of 2003. It's a 2003.5 (7?) Sunlight Silver that I purchased Dec. 19, 2003. Evidently alot of MSP's came to FL and when I purchased mine, there were only three other speeds on the lot; two blue's and a titanium.

Yeah, thats great, he asked for what a new one sold for, which would imply MSRP.

I purchased mine, brand new with 7 miles on it, literally off the show room floor for $16,500 plus tax, tags, etc. Being that it was "brand new", it is what an 03.5 msp sold for "new".

Besides, how many people honestly pay msrp when buying a "new" car????

Back when they were new the 03 was 26,900 and the 03.5 was 27,500. But they were selling for like 23 24k at the end of the year.

I paid $23 for mine cause I got it RIGHT when they came out and I was upside down $2k on my 2002 Protege5 trade-in.

ooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh, we were including everything including trade in??? in that case, I paid $24,975.00usd for my msp.... lol the car by itself, though, was only $16,500.

Now I feel better. The price was $19k (plus taxes and junk) which I think is fair for the MSP.

I bought the last new titanium in calgary for $28, at the end of august in 2003...... .......and I just made my final payment about a month ago. (headbang)

Get a compression test before you buy it.

hahah through my work i got mine for like $25K brand new. Then there was a $2000 rebate so it ended up $23K.

dude i got mine at 22,100 can with 2 sets of rims and tires (17's and 15' winter rims...with tire) thats almost 4 grand less than 'sticker' price

End of 03?early summer 03 for the titanium and yellow, early augustish for blue and silver. i was shopping for mine in late july and they had the titanium and yellow on the lot for a little while already, then a week after i bought mine (first week of august or so) i went back to get some touchup paint because someone nicked my mirror and they were unloading the silvers and blue. this is in ct and we're not always the first to get cars though

I just bought an Orange MSP in Michigan and I picked it up for $12,500 USD. It has 29k miles and its origional purchase price was like $24,000 USD and has an extended warranty good through Jan 2008.

I have the car in my garage but am just waiting to get the "Release of Lean" letter so I can register and drive the thing.

Oh ya, when i got mine there were about 15-20 yellows on the lot, all of which were being advertized 3-4 grand off sticker price. but not one titanium to be seen.

I agree that the titainium is better looking car, but hey when your getting that much of a discount...you go with what you can!
