I called my dealer today to bitch about getting a neon for a loaner and low and behold they told me to bring it in and they gave me an '06 grand cherokee with like 1k mileson it.It's nice but it's a bit to big. I like the size of my 5.

My loaner looks similar to yours (silver Mazda6), except I got a base 6i sedan with no spoiler.

I miss my 5, this Dodge is pissing me off.

BTW Fam - I hope your "rental" doesn't catch on fire... you've been notified and asked to bring it in so I suspect it'd be your own problem if it did! (headshake

After turning in my Mazda5 my dealer gave me a Mazda3; which has to be one of the most cramped cars I have ever driven. I called them back and said if my car was going to be with them for a month i needed something bigger. After 3 days i'm finally gonna get a Mazda6 from a rental car company. I'll post pics of my current and new replacement car. Next mission; Get some REAL info from Mazda on this freakin recall.

I dont want it to catch fire either but its not going to unless some canadians find out where I live. :-) Mazda asking to bring your vehicles in for a recall does not stop any lawsuits or liability they would have in any circumstance. I can easily make a case as to why I didnt bring my vehicle in (no mazda equivalent replacement given { mpv or tribute }. no parts available for 30 days, the list could go on and on. Im usually a push over and really nice, but on this issue im not going to be pushed around to drive dodge. If I trusted dodge\ford I would have bought one to begin with. A 6 is too small unless its the wagon for what we must have. I may call the number on the recall and email tonight to tel them the situation to "document" their neglect.

I have the same loaner as Saint - I'm so short that the rear spoiler sometimes blocks my view. I have to say - so far - I'm not impressed. I asked if they had something that was a stick shift and they laughed at me. I ended up taking my 5 to a closer dealer than the one that I bought it at. They had never even seen a manual trans 5!!

Sheez, I miss the roominess of the 5 - even in the 6 I feel totally cramped. Also, the 6 doesn't feel nearly as responsive as the 5 did - maybe the 4 speed automatic just doesn't compare to the peppy 5 speed. Oh, well. I'll probably call tomorrow and ask if they can get me into an MPV.

I have a 2005 Explorer XLT 4WD and I love it. If not for the crappy MPG I would buy one. IMO it's a sweet ride compared to my Mazda 5. This recall is the third time it's been into the dealership in 2300 miles. I WANT TO GIVE IT BACK!

Here's mine.

Picked up my MPV loaner this morning. Brand new 06 LX with 27 miles on it. Very pleased with my dealers attention to this matter. It's the type of service that makes me happy that I purchased from them.

But I miss the 5 even more. There is nothing Zoom-Zoom about the MPV. It drives soft and big. I'm guessing the ES version is much tighter.

I was going to drive it into work but I decided to pawn it off on my wife and take the 3. The 3 platform is stunning. I am so happy Mazda decided to use it for the 5. You can really feel the difference. The more I drive my 3 the more I appreciate it's engineering and design.

My wife called me at lunch and needled me about sticking her with the boring silver mini-van. She never wanted a mini-van and loves the 5. Now she agrees with me that the 5 may look a little like a minivan, but it defintely doesn't drive like one.

Damn.

First got a Hyundai Santa Fe 4wd V6. Two days was enough! What a piece of ..... Quick call to Enterprise and picked up today a 2006 Chrysler 300, black, with a wwaayy bigger sunroof(pet peeve of the 5).
The kids love it......"total gangster car Dad!....Can we get one?!!"
RWD, Stability control OFF, it laid some NICE rubber on the driveway!!
"Can this car catch on fire too, Dad? It's pretty smokey!"
The umm.... kids, yeah..... the kids got a kick out of it just the same!

Yeah, we got this fugly Beige colored (inside and out) 05 MPV LX with 96 miles on it. I am thankful that the needs of my family and I are met (I actually love the tons of room in the back, but ahte the lack of room in the front), and I can't complain too much I guess. I am just given a reliable replacement for my car until they fix the problem and that's what really counts.

The MPV does really suck compared to driving my 5 (or ZX2), but as compared to other mini-vans, it does feel a bit more responsive (in my experience).

Yeah A guy at work has a 300 and we are always switching up rides for fun. 300 is fun, the bigger v6 can real be some fun, feels alot like a v6 mustang (which is a very strong 6 banger imo) but with better gearing in an auto. I thought about asking for a 300 as the trunk is HUGE, but i asked for the mpv and im picking it up tomorrow...darn my brain.

Yeah, Rita is about to start hitting us with flooding and all. I deliver for Papa John's on the weekend and they said they are going to be open no matter what the weather (dorks). I'm putting the ZX2 away and I'm gonna use the loaner MPV to drive through the water.

AURGH

I had a choice between a Grand Am, Grand Prix, Impala, or a Sunfire.

I picked the Sunfire because it was 4-cyl and (hopefully) not as gas guzzling as the other three.

It's my first day and I already hate driving this car :(

Traded in my 6 loaner for an MPV loaner - even though I was getting pretty used to the 6 automatic - it just wasn't great to use with the kids. I have no knowledge of MPV's - it seemed pretty nice - a new '05 LX in nordic green metallic or something. Had 49 miles on it when I picked it up.

My cousin has a friend who's the serivce manager or something at a dealership up near his house, and when he (my cousin) took his 03 Accord in for warranty work, his buddy hooked him up with a Camaro SS. A 400 hp rear wheel drive rental car is not a good thing for tenagers to have. We damn near got in a LOT of trouble with that thing.

Nope, it's included in the warranty for the Mazda5. I'm not sure if it is part of the warranty for all 06 models though.

My warranty papers say the minimum age is 21. That's the other reason I have not taken my 3 in for any major warranty work because I would not have a car. That will change in 6 months thankfully.

I've driven my Mazda6i loaner for 50 miles, and it's already used up a quarter tank. The tank's supposed to be 18 gallons, so 50/4.5 = 11 MPG???? I'll give it a little longer (until I use up the entire 1st tank's worth of gas) to make sure I'm not calculating things wrong, but if this doesn't improve I'm definitely returning this loaner and asking for a new one. I'm not sure how the MPG can be so low...nothing's noticably wrong with the car, and the tires are inflated fine.

I can't wait to get my Mazda5 back, I was getting 25 MPG on it!
