Ok, so tonight I encountered what I was sure was coming. I'm pretty sure my LSD went goodbye tonight. Shifted into second under moderate accelerations(not light not heavy) and as I start into second (lighter than first) the car makes an ungodly noise...metal metal metal grinding breaking god only knows what else. But it only happens above 2500 rpm so I think maybe it's the turbo. I pull over thinking maybe thats the best idea. Car idles fine, turn it off, starts fine. Think all is well start to accelerate to drive away...car not moving, horrible metal to metal slipping sound. Time for a tow truck. Saturday night...have to wait till monday...fuck.
So this couldn't have come at a better time believe it or not...my car still has a warranty as all parts are as yet un-installed. Infact only a week ago I was asking in a thread if the dealer would open my tranny and weld this to stregnthen it...maybe now they will. I just hope they don't go asshole and say my warranty aint covering this or some shit.
So I'm wondering, does this sound like the LSD that I think it is?
Will they weld it to prevent further issues?
What should I do if they decide to screw me over?
Should I spend the extra flip I have around on a clutch and flywheel while it's open?:D

I'm just really hoping they don't go ghey on me...could really kink my plans..not just for the car, but for life in general. Getting to work(30km away), the money needed for the move coming up(even though I keep shelling out for other parts, thats on it's own buget...this could cause me to use part of another buget)..gah..best time to happen, but still really sucks. Plus the road I was on was in the middle of the country, full moon clear sky, and creepy moose/giant deer noises creeping me out....and I couldn't 'hide' in the car cause I needed cell phone reception..which wasn't existent at the bottom of the gulley I was in.

That really sucks when you are in the middle of nowhere at night...imagine had you not have a cell phone handy?

yeah...I was easily an hour walk from anything. Theres no houses out their either. And my cellphone barely had any reception either....could've easily been bad news. and the two hours I sat there, easily 30 cars passed...not one stopped...even the ones I was flagging at first trying to get a ride cause me and my buddy both had zero reception. People really care alot these days.

At least this didn't happen in January on a -30 degree night!

It's still chilly out there...specially when all you have is the shorts and t-shirt you're wearing on your body. It was a chilly night, I could see my breath...and I was starting to shake....hypothermia wouldn't be an impossible thing if the conditions where right

Yep definetly sounds like you broke the lsd. Sorry to hear man. You shouldnt have any problems though getting it warrantied since your stock.

But will the fact that their is mud on the car(parked in a muddy lot) or the fact that the front tires are more worn than the rear have any affect on their decision?

But will the fact that their is mud on the car(parked in a muddy lot) or the fact that the front tires are more worn than the rear have any affect on their decision? They could say that since your tires are more worn in the front that you were abusing the car therefore thats what caused the lsd to break but they cant directly prove that! I think you should be fine.

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking, it should be fine. I could simply retort with "Well the tires you provided stock suck and wore out quickly under normal driving and since they where bald and slipping it caused the LSD to funk up"

bleh, if they bitch and say no warranty, I already planned for this. I tow the car home, park it...take off collision and just leave it parked there and buy a winter car. Then I replace the LSD with a Quaife, and the Clutch and Flywheel too:D. Then car be better. also would give me time to install other things also.

Your car is stock they cant say nothing! The only thing I can see them possibly using against you is the tires but they cant directly prove anything!

I know, I'd still give up a fight, I'm saying worst case cenario(gone good). No matter what happens nothing really bad can happen..unless my car spontaneously combusts...

So apparently it was my clutch. It disintigrated...and apparently since it's considered a wear item, I need to shell out 927 bones for a new clutch and to machine the flywheel. What the fuck man. Now I need to decide if I buy the clutch they sell me, or if I go aftermarket.

There goes the stereo..but now I guess I'll have a better tranny. What do you suggest for clutches? Also should I try and get them to weld the LSD for me? What are the instructions on welding the LSD? gah. Headache city here now man. But it'll all work out, for the best hopefully.

On the bright side, my dealer is being cool about things and is helping me try to find a semi local dealer of perf. clutches, and if not ordering from Beau at MAM...also he said he's gonna look into welding my LSD so there are no further issues.
