Stock amp in the P5???? Did I miss something? There's an amp for the spare tire sub, but that's it...there's no amp for the 4 doors. You'll have to fenagle an LOC to hook up your pioneer for those unless you've got an aftermarket deck.

hmmmm...well i dont kno very much about hooking up a/v in cars but i figured the p5 speakers ran off of an amp. Guess i was wrong. So how r they powered then?

The amp's inside the deck, just like an aftermarket unit. Well...if by just like, I mean not anywhere near the same quality as a decent aftermarket unit's internal amp. You can change out the headunit or, you can add an amp to the system using an LOC or speaker level inputs.

Some of the newer P5s did get a sub that fit over the spare tire, I do believe. It was bascially a tiny driver in a plastic nautilus style tub. Didn't sound good at all, from what I've been told.

What's a "LOC"? Cuz I'm interested in getting new speakers with an amp, and maybe a small sub to replace the spare tire sub, but I still want to keep the stock HU. Any ways to by pass the built in stock HU amp to an after market one?

thx.
