I wanted to let everyone know that we are developing a NA header, Mid-pipe and Cat Back Exhaust System for the Mazda 3. I will be posting the dyno charts, (before and after) on this thread. If you have any thoughts on what you would like to see let us know. Thanks!

is there any way to keep the cat in the header, the reason i am not going with the draxas header is the cat delete, and with that deleted and the high flow cat i am sure to fail emissions testing, so if you could keep it legal that would be the selling point for me and others i am sure...

I always try to keep it that way. I will most likely come out with 2 headers. 1 with a cat and one without.

I, too, cancelled my draxas order because of the cat delete.

Heres the link to the headers for the mazda 6i (2.3l) We got 17 whp and 12wtq

We should be able to get about 15whp with a cat.

to the people who are worried about the cat delete. check your states emission tests before you worry about it. in maryland they simply plug your car in and check for the check engine light. if you aren't throwing any codes you pass.

the cat delete can give you more power, it may cause you to fail emissions test, but why not do a lil bit to keep the emissions down? i know thats very tree huggish of me, but in reality that is what was keepin me from deletin my cat more then anything.

hey im supposed to play the tree hugging-enviromental freindly-hippy on this forum. damn you!
and i say, delete the cat and plant a tree and it should even out.

^^same...

hope this one doesn't have problem like draxas.... I'm tired of waiting for a header to come out in the market!!!

EVERYTHING has to be stainless. I was thinking of the Draxas, except the header is not stainless. Wouldn't last two years up here in Ontario Canada with all the salt we use on the roads in the winter.

I also don't care if it uses the original cat, as long as there is a high quality cat in the system. Up here in the north, they don't care if you have modified the cat or changed it, as long as you have one and it works (IE passes the sniffer test)

if it isn't stainless wouldn't the ceramic coating take care of weather issues?

yeah the north east is like the north west(cali) they are very stingy on stuff and maine has already tried to pass stiffer laws then california has, and they were not passed, but i bet in another year or two they will... b/c of emisions you can't even by a noncommericail new diesel vehichle in the state anymore...

The ceramic coating is the only reason why it lasts up to two years, without it, it would last one winter. I have bought many high end ceramic coat headers, and after the second winter they look like crap and the coating is coming off. They start to break and leak not long after that..

The header is completely stainless. I am almost done and I should have the dyno numbers up by wedsday or thrusday. I am going to do a GB on these when they come out. I will give the price out at that same time.

Great news! Being in CA, i too would need a carb legal (or atleast smog passable) header. Hopefully it will compiment my new ARK 2.5" catback :):)

Andrew, is the test vehicle you are using a Hatch or Sedan?

Hatch!

I can supply the magnaflow 43000 that is legal in CA. Too bad they charge over twice the price for that thing. $180!!!

Doesn't carb legal intail having the stock emission parts on or specific replacement parts. I'm sure I saw that somewhere.
Meaning that even a new header with a aftermerket cat will still be illegal.
Some might want to look into that.

hey bro, you know how i do. lol
i was just very discouraged by the comments, and even more by the lack of response/defense. The thing with waiting to see the quality is who is gonna dare get the first kit.

i am sure if there is a group buy at a reasonable price i may join and then do my own tests (pressure) and see if the welds/piping is up to par....

I'm not even going to pretend i know anything about CARB, so you may be right.

Although, basically, what i meant was, able to pass smog (lol2) i can get past the visual. (2thumbs)

But due to the enlightenment of those other threads, (outie) i don't think i'm interested anymore, so now it's moot ... lol
