What's up, I wanted to know if I could use the GHL "s" pipe along with MAM mild steel midpipe. would this allow me to use the OEM muffler? Would I have only one cat? If this were possible my system would be "s" pipe, Midpipe (with one cat), and factory the rest of the way back? Would I be looking at some decent gains? Trying to replace only what I have to change!!!!!!!!!

Please respond ASAP, Thanks ahead of time.

just get the MAM s&j pipe and the MAM midpipe (with or w/out cat - your choice).

the factory catback isn't horribly restrictive, but you will still see mild gains. the stock axleback has a good growl to it when you upgrade some other exhaust components.

you could also get some custom piping from the midpipe to the factory axleback if it can fit your budget. release some pressure there ..

you could also buy the GHL S&J and mid pipe setup and you cna choose to have it setup to bolt right up to your stock axel back exhaust...

so they provide the extra piping needed to reach from the end of the midpipe to the axleback? how much extra is it?

ya i don't see the s&j pipe on the MAM website anymore. i know that they used to have it. protegegarage doesn't list it either. maybe give beau a call?

its like $665 for Turbo back to the stock axel back direct bolt up to factory (you can also have it end in 3" and use your own custom 3" axel back system)
$485 for the S&J combo
and
$1195 for the complete turbo back exhaust

No they don't. at least not that I know of. The full downpipe included the S/J pipes and the midpipe, and ends at the stock resonator. I have this currently bolted to the stock cat-back (stock resonator and axle-back)...definitely noticed an improvement over stock. Will soon have an Apex 3" catback added to this...

That is exactly what I have. It connects to the stock resonator and axle-back. (stock cat-back)

I see the GHL "s" pipe but what is the "j" pipe? a lot of these terms are used loosely. Is the midpipe and downpipe the same. Ok, what PECIES do i need to buy to keep the factory muffler, i want to buy only what i have to. I want to do it relitivly cheap/nice gains/low, deep tone. Yea, I know, that's what everyone is going after.

No complaints at all...nice gains, definitely felt a difference throughout the power band. Pain to install, but that is the same w/ any s-pipe replacement. Mine is coupled w/ the stock resonator and catback at the moment (actually, my axle-back is the replacement mazdaspeed part ... a bit louder/deeper than the stock 2003.5 racing beat). Tone is near stock at idle/low RPMs, and has a nice deep growl when you open it up...some droning in the cabin, but nothing intolerable.

I know there are other threads on this, but I am too lazy to search for a link for you so here it goes...
Stock exhaust system goes like this (listing each connection w/ it name commonly used on the forums)..turbo--> "s" pipe --> "j" pipe --> midpipe w/ 2 cats --> resonator --> axle-back w/ muffler.

The GHL "S" pipe only replaces that, and doesn't (to the best of my knowledge) directly bolt to any piece of our stock exhaust. The GHL full downpipe replaces both the s, j, and midpipe and bolts to the stock resonator and axle-back. This is what I have

Hope that helps...sorry for the long post...

so if i were to go GHL, then FULL exhaust is $ 1,195.00 and for downpipe and s pipe it's $ 1,150.00, so i could get the rest of the exhaust for $ 45.00 more dollars, WTF gives. any other companies that break the exhaust down into sections for resale?

No, the GHL full downpipe includes the "s" pipe...lists on GHL site for 665.00. Alot cheaper than the full turbo back. You can also check out www.*************** ; they sell the GHL pieces as well, and Cullen is a great vendor to work with. PM me if you have any more questions...be happy to help as much as I can.
