Hey Guys I'm new to the forum. I was recently rearended by some dude and had to get my rear lip and bumper replaced. I just got it back yesterday, and it seems they have replaced my Oval-shaped exhaust (2003.5 stock) with a 3" mazdaspeed exhaust.
I have heard that this was because there are problems with cracking with the 2003.5 exhausts. Do any of you have this "replacement" exhaust, and if so, did it totally cancel out the sound of the stock blow off valve?
Please let me know....
Thanks

yea a few people on here have the new round tip axelback. I don't think there is anything different than the oval tip ones.
I think dr sound has it.

well it sounds like he said they replaced it w/ a 3" exhaust...

I have the replacement muffler...not a huge difference from stock...the muffler piece is actually shorter, so the tone is a bit throatier and louder than stock. If the pipe diameter is any different, it isn't by much (no noticable performance gain). And it is only the axle-back portion that is replaced...

uhhh, 3" mazdaspeed exhaust for a protege? did they take this off an rx7 or something? btw, i don't think u quite have the right idea of what a blow off valve is or does....and we don't have one either. it's a bypass valve (bpv).

no, it definitely isn't 3"...it is the Mazdaspeed axle-back, as opposed to the Racing Beat axle-back that came w/ our cars.
Certainly didn't have any effect on the BPV though.... (boom07)

here's something that might get u going on how our turbo system is set up....and what exactly a bpv/bov does.

the '03s came with a round tip exhuast, the 03.5s with the oval.
and to everyone else I'm sure he's referring to the tip diameter - not the piping
