Key Sensor?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong area, not sure where to ask and am not trusting the service guy!
There is a light that flashes for the key sensor(?) that keeps on flashing when the car is turned off. The book says it would need to be reset by a dealer, but the dealer said it was a normal thing. The flashing just started yesterday and I've only had the car about two weeks. It's a 2005 Mazda 3 - Can anyone confirm either/or???

if that is the lil red light that flashes, it is normal and should have been doing that since it came off the production line...

the flashing light (car with key icon) is to indicate the immobilizer has been activated. It flashes whenever the key switch is set to LOCK.
