Yea so last week i took a trip and all of it was on the highway and i calculated that i got 33mpg on the highway at a constant 75-80 mph the whole way. I tried to boost as little as i could and im very happy with the results.
Just felt like posting this up
Easy way to get your mpg is to fill up, set the trip and drive as much as you want then fill up again and see how much goes back in then divide the miles you drove by the amount of gas that went back in.
This will give you a good idea of where your at.

I have been skipping gears and accelerating slowly never going above 60 and I knocked out 37MPG :)
Is this fun? No, but I get 440 miles out of 12 gallons.

hmm....i never tried skipping gears. Doesn't that lugg the engine a good amount? Like going from 2nd to 4th?

I got 360miles out of 12.5 gallons on a long trip recently and that is about as good as I get mine. Recently I have been getting 240miles out of 13 gallons from driving in this fucking city. That's about 18.5mpg (omg) Best tank ever was 400 for 13 gallons, just over 30mpg.

i avg about 30mpg on almost every tank I drive for about the past 3 months. The way I did is to accelerate smoothly, and no sudden stop and go pedal to the metal type driving... look ahead at traffic so i can coast as much as i can, fill up my tank when it's dead early in the morning so it's cold and i get more fuel for my $$ (fuel is denser when it's cold). and keep a constant gas pedal position the whole time. this gave me excellent mileage ever since i started to do this. of course i can step on the gas to get some fast acceleration thanks to our turbo.

On my trip i was averaging the same about 32mpg. It was nice. Now in the city I do like 300mile per tank.

Just Drive Normal and Fucking Pay... You might as well take the bus if you are short shifting all over to save a dime..

wtf... I drive at 70 mph on a trip and get 31.5 mpg :(
maybe it's because I reset the ecu a couple hundred miles ago. Any ideas?

You all get a lot of miles per tank. I usually get 280 - 300 per tank. The best MPG that I EVER got was 28 and that was shifting at 2000 rpm every time.
I usually average 25mpg, and it dosent even matter how fast or slow I drive.

Are you guys using the A/C full time and getting 30+MPG's? I cannot come close to that in my MSP in the summer.

Probably not if people are taking the effort to miss gears and roll up windows to max out MPG. It's common knowledge that A/C costs HP and Gas.

Heh...I never really cared about gas mileage when I had my MSP. I averaged about 23 MPG.
One time I got 425 miles out of one tank (just curious on how far I could go on a full tank trying to squeeze the most out). 35MPG.
Worst tank I got just barely over 200 miles LOLOL

I drive the speed like it should. I accelerate pretty hard from the line, pass alot on the highway, constantly downshifting to get into boost to play, i get about 24 mpg that way sometimes as low as 21. If I drive "normal" i get like 31mpg

Brian bought his P5 for the gas mileage and not for the fun.
To save on gas, I often ride my bike and keep a pic of my speed in my wallet just incase I have to mac on some shorties!
