Just get an Alpine CDA-9855... You'll need a new sirius receiver, but it's really nice.
:-) paid $380 for it. I was shocked at how much better the sound quality it even with the stock speakers.

IIRC you need an adaptor for a line in on the stock Kenwood deck.

Is the Kenwood a single-interface, or multiple-interface (such as the Alpine Ai-Net)? I've got a Sirius receiver on the unit, and wouldn't mind having both the Sirius interface, AND the iPod interface.

Also, is the Kenwood interface audio only, or can you use the radio to control the iPod (as with the Alpine interface)?

Thanks!

The Kenwood head unit has one interface, but if you look at your sirius reciever it should have an input. The kenwood interface does allow you to control it through the deck, you use the scan button to jump for different things ex, album, artist, playlist. am/fm buttons to jump between cds under each subject, and next/previous to change songs within that certain area.

Is it the same cable you would use for the IPOD?

How do we aquire an adapter (Mfr and P/N) and what is IIRC. (I believe one end is a Kenwood design and the other accepts the red and white RCA plugs) I want to hard wire the satellite radio. Thanks

You need this piece: It's a Kenwood CA-C1AUX http://www.crutchfield.com/S-TmHjvDikWdg/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=227550&I=113CAC1AX
This connects to the back of the stock Kenwood Deck, provides a line-input

I also recommend this piece: It's a Belkin Auto Kit for iPod w/ Dock Connector
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=149006
It charges the iPod, and also provides a line output, where you would connect the above to. Much better quality than from the headphone jack, plus charges it.

You may need an adapter such as below, a Y-Audio cable, converts a headphone plug into RCA. http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=&pcount=&Product_Id=148894

I just reciently installed the ipod with these adapters and pluged it into the sirus radio but the head unit doesnt detect it. Why? I figured it would be in the menu where the options come up to pick whether you want to listen to ex. tuner,cd player, sirus but its not. I thought it would be under cd changer or something.

I have the adapter wire with the 90 degree bend going straight down toward the floor (out the back of the radio). Is that correct? The radio doesn't detect the Sirius satellite shuttle yet.

How did you plug it in without removing the radio? I just ordered the same cable so I will be doing the install Wednesday.

I pulled the radio out and found that I had the plug in upside down. The 90 degree elbow must go straight up, not down like I had seen in a different thread. It went right to AUX like it should and the Sirius is awesome. Thanks again for the adapter wire info!!!(cheers)

Yes, stock HU! and I ran the wires down from the back of the radio and along the center console (passenger side) to the armrest where the shuttle is.

i took two butter knives and stuck in on the sides of the HU b/w the sides of the radio and the metal holster thingy and just moved the butter knives around while pulling the radio out gently...kinda tricky since u only have two hands. just move the butter knives up and down like its a lever and the radio'll come right out...

Butter knives are kinda thick for that, no? :-/

Didn't the MSP come with the keys toremove the deck? I think you can find a stereo shop and depending on how cool they are, they might just give you a set since they usually don't give them to the customers after they install the decks.

why would yours do that??? (huh)

Mine just shows AUX on the Kenwood display.......... (boom07)

btw, I took out the cubby box instead of pulling the radio.

I was fishing the plug around the back side of the HU and finally got it plugged in.
