in-dash TV

so i was looking at my dashboard today... and i found out that a tv would fit were the stock radio is (protege 2001 LX)... but then i will not have a place to put my other cd player... my question is does a normal cd player will fit were the ashtray and lighter are(yes i will have to remove them)... but will it fit?

did anyone ever did this cause i would like to see it

yeah but i dont want a dvd/cd player with a tv in it... i want a tv in my dash and a dvd player in my glove box or in another place and thats what im lookin for... but thanks

p.s. I had to custom make the "new" center console out of fiberglass... and lose the cupholders, but hey

Yes a tv will fit in where the stock radio is. Go to www.protegegarage.com , they sell a 7"tv that is custom fit with the radio bezel. Its pricey but cool. And yes, you can mount a sinlge din radio where the ashtray n cig lighter are, seen it done by people on the forum. If you want a dvd player, then how bout getting a ps2 n put it in your glove box or under your seat. Can play dvds with that n video games as well.

I measured it out. I was gonna put a double din screen in the top and my radio in the bottom. I found it comes close but the back would need to be trimmed its just the right size at the front then it slims down. I was thinking the glove box would be just as good.

you won't see that mounted by the ashtray, because as soon as you take the complete center console out of the car, the really hard metal frame of the car is exposed. You would either have to a) bend the metal frame out, so the radio fits, b) cut said metal so you don't have to worry about it, or c) build around the frame. You will find that c) is much easier to do than a) or b) Please refer to attached pic for "building" around.
