Does the P5 have side airbags??Reason why I'm asking is bc one of my friend's is selling me his racing seat bc he wants to keep the side airbags on his RSX.If he would have put on the racing seat, his SRS light turns on?I mean I saw SRS on the side of the P5 seats, does that mean I have side airbags and my light will turn on?

if your seats are labeled, yes, you have side air bags

they're on the seat...if you read the owner's manual/tech manual they talk about all these precautions when undoing the harness under the seat so they don't explode.

just like it is said above...anywhere you see the label SRS or AIRBAG or whatever, it means you have an airbag in that location. For all you who don't know, SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System (Supplemental meaning it is meant to work in conjuction with seat belts). For the p5, the side airbags are in the seats.

Anyway, if you disconnect any of your bags, the SRS light will stay on all the time. There are ways to turn it off, but I'm not going to say how...I work with the things for a living, and understand the how much they can help (especially side airbags).

Regarding the removal of your seats, I wouldn't be too worried about having the bags explode in front of you when you unplug the seat connector (I'm not saying it couldn't happen, though). You could always be safe and disconnect the battery to be sure there isn't any juice running through the systems.

And on a serious note, although it is really cool to see the things blow, messing around with airbags can be very dangerous. These things can kill people when used/handled improperly. Be careful.

well, i never said you shouldn't do it...but the fact that you have side airbags should make you think twice. Side airbags help tremendously in side impact collisions. Without them, there just isn't that much between you and the car that's hitting you (unless of course it hits your passenger side -- but then you have to worry about the passengers).

You don't really think much of them until you get to see bloody pictures of a car that hit the side of another car...that dent in the middle their hood if from the other driver's head coming through the window and contacting the metal (think of the momentum -- ouch!!).

It's entirely up to you...but if it was me, I'd keep the bags...
