View Full Version : New Problem-Car won't start...

I was driving out of the drive way when all of a sudden the car stalled and refused to start up. The car cranks and still has power. I pushed the car to the side and checked all connections under the hood and everything was good. Then I checked the DSM AFC connections and noticed that the wire to the MAF came off (my fault for not soldering). After I connected it and reset the ECU, the car still won't start.

I don't know what to do at this point. The car is being diagnosed at my mechanics. So far he found that there is no power going to the ECU or the AFC.

Any ideas?

Not yet, he had other customers harassing him and I had to study. I hope it's nothing major...(sad2)

Does the temp needle spike to hot when you crank it?

We didn't notice it. I think I was panicking.

Don't worry, just try cranking it and take note of wether or not the temp needle is climbing all the way up. If it does, then it's a sure bet that you just popped the fuse. Just go ahead and check it anyway, it's in the box by the drivers left foot.

I'll go back to the shop tomorrow. I just got home and my car is a total mess. There are wires everywhere.

Thanks, I'll go back tomorrow morning and check it out.

One of the fuses (the one that controls the fans, airbag, other critical functions) did pop as 505zoom thought, but my mechanic already went thru 4 fuses already and it kept popping.

He tried it with DSM's AFC and it popped, then he tried it without and it pop 3 more times. Finally the last attempt worked, but he's not sure when it's going to pop again.

So right now we don't know what's going on. It's not the afc, but something else that's causing the fuse to short.

Does anyone here have the full wiring diagram for the car? Also any ideas why this is happenning.

Do you think my problem is related to a bad O2 sensor?

Still not sure what happened. My mechanic got the car running without any blowning any fuse this time, but he's not sure if it's safe for me to drive it around. We still haven't figured out what happened and I don't want to waste more money replacing the primary O2 sensor if I don't need to.

I blew a fuse with almost the same situation. I thought I had FRIED MY CAR.

So what caused the problem in your situation?

I was wiring my Tach Adaptor to my Coil Pack and must have shorted it out. Killed a fuse and the car simply did not start when cranked. I took it to the dealer and after 3 hours of looking a t obvious things, the simple unlikey thing turned out to be it.

I think I'm going to sell DSM afc to pay for the labor at the shop...plus I've already spent $75 just to tow it 3 blocks down the road. (bastards).

He told me it was the one that powers the ECU and all the critical functions in the car. I saw a couple of blown #15 fuses on driver's side floor.

That was the one that I popped.

Still unsure if I need to replace the primary o2 sensor...my mechanic likes the idea..

You can verify the sensor with a multimeter, but I would say just bite it and get one. It's what makes all the final fuel delivery...

Yeah, I should just get it ...It's only about $70 shipped

Thanks for the advice.
