Are the APC CF hood air ducts functional? Doesn`t look like they are.

Gemini REVERSE COWL! DOOO IT! I did, and all the cool kids are doing it! You should to!

You got it... That`s the only other option I was gonna go with if these air ducts weren`t functional. I`m guessing the big air duct on the Gemini reverse cowl hood is functional, I looked at it.

The big reason i'm getting the RC is because its reverse cowl and functional, and belive me, these engines run hot and i want all of the cooling capacity i can get.
I was gonna go DG with the air intake back when i was gonna run a Perrin SRI, but now that i'm running a CAI, it seems kinda pointless. Plus, the agressive lines of the RC just add the extra grunt to the understated front end. Kinda evo'ish in a more badass way.

Xcelerated Concepts Dual Vented
that blue one there looks familiar! And these hoods are VERY functionable. gets a lot of heat out form under my hood. you can ask any of the houston people on here and they'll tell you how amazed people are when they feel above my hood and can tell all th heat coming out. the apc ones are not functionable. theres no hole there.

Seibon makes a CF hood as well. Haven't seen one in person yet so i can't attest to their quality.

Seibon is very well received on Nasoic and other communities. They are known for great fitment and quality.
I will be purchasing one from horsepowerfreaks mid-jan.

Wings West functional EVO style sheds tons of heat....
http://www.msprotege.com/members/slug420/hood/hood-yellow.jpg
someone else in MA was selling a fiber images EVO8 replica hood (painted yellow) not too long ago....
As far as I know, the only hoods available that're genuinely functional are the WW EVO hood, the Gemini Composites reverse cowl, and the one CrazyCaker sells.
I went with Gemini:

from mitch at protege5online.com way back.
it came direct from wings west in their first batch of evo hoods...I think they stopped making them now though as I was just looking for a pic on their site and didnt see it.

I'm 95% sure that you're right. The last I heard, WW discontinued the hoods and never started production again.
So if you want one, your best chance is to keep an eye out on the forums for somebody that's selling one -- or there might be a VERY obscure chance of randomly finding one on Ebay.

ill trade mine - rain guards and mesh grill powdercoated black and the same pearl as the rest of the spicy orange MSP (goldish) for a reverse cowl hood if you will pay to have the outside section on it painted spicy orange =D

hey i was reading up about the evo hood and it says that we needed hood pins but i see a lot of cars that have the hood w/out the pins. so do you really need the pins if you get the hood or should it hold down just fine
slug420
12-30-2005, 05:25 PM
depends on the hood.
shitty ass hood? yes you need hood pins.
decent quality hood? no hood pins

Yeah, I like the Racing Hart wheels and with my Wilwood Huge Brake Kit, I would have to go try on the wheels one at a time or find out the EXACT measurements and offset needed and stuff, and I`m lazy. But, I like the wheels that came on the car so I wanna keep `em on. And I have a frontmount in my car and I don`t know... BUT, I hope you`re not too mad cause I`ll just represent over heer in SA and you take care of Houston. Sounds good to me, eh?

your wheels look more clean/machined/one-piece. yeah, I like the stock wheels pretty much for the same reasons also. I`ll have to think about it some more. Maybe those wheels are too flashy/racey. thanks for the pic.s
eh.........they look like rotoras or whatever their called. i like mine way better personally.
WW c/f with black grilles, on a black mica '03 MSP, with '035 wheels, for those interested... and no hood pins, the hood's pretty sturdy (but does flex a little at high speed)
I really like the WW hood but the area around the hood prop rod has the prop rod resting on the underside of the top surface of the hood. It's worked so far, but I certainly don't want the prop rod through the top of the hood so I've been careful...
It's certainly lighter than the stock hood, but not 50lb lighter, maybe ~5lb.
Can definitely see heat escaping through the grilles in summer - I put the black hail dinged steel one back on in winter... anyone got a black NON-hail dinged steel hood they want to get rid of?
