sorry...i'm sure these questions have been asked a million times, but i'm new to the group. i just bought a 2003 es and it has a 6 disc in-dash changer. i don't really like it as much as my jvc kd-ar3000, but i am perplexed as to how to remove the old radio. how does the dash cover (the thing with the ac controls and the vents) come off of the dash? if need be, how are the ac knobs removed? i have one set of ford keys, and i have read where 4 keys may need to be used. is there a way around this, or do i need to go buy another set? what is the best kit for a 1 din radio? what wire harness do i need? can they be purchased at wal-mart since there is one around the corner? and are there any factory amps that need to be bypassed?
thanks
christian

in the es their is no factory amp, to remove the center consol pull the glove box (push the tops inward then pull up on the left side and slide it to the left) on your left you will see a silver wire coiled around a white post.(it will move when you move the hvac controls) pull the wire off!! then on the drivers side on the right side their will be another one of these!! pull that off and then gently just pop the whole center consol off. release the quick release tabs on the back of the hvac controls and it will come totally off. leaving you full access to the radio. i used a cut coat hanger to release mine! their is a kit you can buy at walmart for our cars to make it single din with a pocket underneith!
i can post pics tomorrow when i am sober!!

also you don't need to remove neither the dash cover nor the HVAC knobs, just follow the directions in the second post
