Anyone have one of those Mazda Protege MP3 8" Kenwood subs in their car? How are they? They have an amp built into them right?

Its a 10" by the way.
The amp is built into the ported sub enclosure.

The factory MP3 subwoofer was a tube style sub that was bolted to the floor and up against the back of the seats.

The facotry MSP subwoofer was suspended from the rear deck and would block the magnets of the typicle speakers used on the rear deck. Which is why the MSP has rear door speakers.
