opinions on it?
I've called a few places and nobody has one for my car. No redtops at least. They say that the mazda needs at least 520 cold amps and that all they have for me is a yellow top which puts out 750 cold amps.
so who's rocking a redtop? and who's rocking a yellow top?

also is it true that you need new battery terminals w/ yellow tops? i thought that i read that somewhere.

I have a red top, bought it at Costco for $90.

Went right it, uses the same terminals. Reduced cranking time that's for sure.

I got a Yellowtop for the carputer. Went in fine when I got it about 6 months ago, no problems, we'll see how it starts up since I haven't driven the car in almost a month.

I have the Yellow Top 34/78 with the Battery Cage (Billet Aluminum CNC machined) from E-Bay. The battery was 150.00 and the cage was 100.00. AWESOME looks and performance.

The Yellow Top Optima died 5 years to the month I bought it! The online Advance Auto coupon saved me $50.00 off the new Yellow Top Optima and I just had to drive around the corner to P/U the "in stock" battery! Use the coupons!!! The new one was $170.00.

My NA came with a Red Top. It's a big ole hunk of battery, but it works great and always has the powah to get me going. I personally wouldn't buy one though, there's plenty of other batteries that'll do the same job for less money.

Working partime/fulltime at advance auto parts for 6+ years left a bad taste in my mouth with Optima batteries. It may be because they usually sit forever before someone actually buys one and by that point they aren't as good as they can be. I agree that you can get a similar battery for the same amount that is smaller and more compact. Then again, I use a car battery to start my car only, not really listen to music or push a system or anything like that.
