* This is a note from Admin Antoine: I'm moving this thread to the news forum to raise awareness and DONATIONS! PLEASE post your donation amount so that we can keep track of how much is donated as a community..Thank You!
I have very little money and work, but the people down South need us. This is different from most hurricanes, New Orleans is just.... a mess.
Many people there live in povery and need help.
I am giving $10 to help them.
keep track of how much we donate as a forum.
I'm sure they'd appreciate it. Here is a link:

Georgia's Red Cross has said that in addition to financial assistance, the next best thing you can do to help is to donate blood and all that costs is a little bit of your time. Plus they give you nutter butter cookies and juice when you're through. (2thumbs)

I'm getting my stuff packed. Probably will be riding up there by the end of the week on a Search and Rescue team. I want to help the folks up there, but to be completely honest with you all, I'd rather be doing something like food distribution or setting up shelters...
But we'll see.

ya the gas excuse... Just pait $47 to fill my tank. That's 87 my friend... I'm no turbo p5. Point being, I did it because I have class tomorrow too, but I still donated yesterday. Things are going to be different in this country for everyone because of the storm. People donated for Florida last year, now we're giving back. That's what we do.

if my money was going to a family who evacuated and lost everything i would send
but im not giving a dime to the people who stuck around, who are shooting at helicopters, each other, looting, going on crime sprees, and then bitching to high heaven that no one will save them....
sadly there are not 2 separate locations to make donations, so the people I would give my money to lose out.......such a shame.

When I get paid I'll prolly drop some cash on that, but till then I'm strapped...like not even gas money, I spent my last 20.57 on gas last night..and I'm still gonna have to prolly borrow money from someone so I can make it to work...but now that my pay has just gone up a bunch I can actually afford to do things again...mwuahahaha.
Mr. Win
09-01-2005, 04:00 PM
no its going to aid in the capture of these idiots and to help pay for the 20k people sitting in texas in the same dirty underwear they were in last week. If you dont want to send money... send items that are need esp socks and underwear.
Or fuck do it for the firefighters/police away from thier families sleeping in store fronts to help clean up. If you were in their shoes i bet you would hope for every ounce of help.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) if everything goes planned I'm heading down there from NY w/ a bunch of local Firefighters and local DJS to personally deliver 3 semi's filled w/ stuff that is crucial to live that we all went out and collected. Im not a big fan of giving money b/c how we know its actually going to use after its all donated to these organizations, but this far into the diaster anything will help so more power to those who are donating. So wish us luck I'll post some pictures when i return.

I feel terrible about this. I grew up in Biloxi. West of New Orleans LA all the way past Mobile AL to the east is messed up horrifically.
www.sunherald.com check out the arial photos under PHOTOS. I couldn't even recognize the place without captions. Terrible.
I just can't donate. I gave $250 to the Tsunami when I was OK with money. I am between jobs now. I am trying to figure out how to pay my rent.
I tried to volunteer for the cleanup, but I don't have a Hazmat Card. It is that bad that you have to have training in Hazardous Materials.

I donated but in a different way. New Orleans got flooded but the Mississippi Gulf Coast got "destroyed". I am from Biloxi, MS and what I used to know as "the coast" is no longer... literally wiped off the map. Much worse East of N.O. than what you see on CNN or MSNBC. My donation was I drove to MS and brought enough gas to get myself and another vehicle out. I brought back 15 family members who either lost their houses, vehicles, etc. because of Katrina. That makes a grand total of 19 people in my house. All but 4 of them have left as of this morning to return home to see what kind of lives they have left. The other 4 will be staying with me indefinately and probably relocating to the Charlotte area permenantly because they have nothing left to go home to.
The point here is that this disaster is "MUCH" larger than just New Orleans and spreads wide. The flood waters of New Orleans are going down and structures stand. Mississippi however looks as if a bunch of drunken college kids had fun on bulldozers for an initiation hazing that went terribly wrong. The entire area will need help... and for a long time. Everything you can think of is needed there. If you know people who are handy type carpeters etc. and are looking to find some solid work for a while... then look no further because everyone I talk to down there sayd they can't get enough people (not even close) to even start cleaning up... much less rebuild.

Well Rita might as well hit the US because we can't afford for it to hit another country. I hope it hits the very least populated area possible. God has a funny sense of humor sometimes... but I don't see many people laughing at this one.
All I can say is this... GET THE HELL OUT this time... I am sooooooo sick and tired of hearing about the people that didn't or couldn't leave... plenty of time right now... get the hell outta there just to be safe... your friggin' life depends on it. All of my family will be leaving if she jogs north like Katrina did and I already told them I have housing arrangements for everyone. No excuses if people stay. Public officials need to provide the poor and needy a means of transportation to get out. That is the major problem we just experienced with Katrina. Survival of the fitest... or in this case, the wealthiest.
My thoughts and prayers with all of the citizens of southern United States.

i agree in the fact to get out!!! trust me.GET THE FUCK OUT OF WHERE YOU LIVE!!!.....of course only if your in the path of the storm....but listen to the officials....they have info you might not have! oh and if you live by water....grab all the crap you can! as much shit as you can pile into your car and still drive, do it!
