" What Edmunds.com Says: Mercedes' is having second thoughts about the viability of this "premium" compact, but it's bound to go over well in Europe.
What We Know: This smaller station wagon appeared in its production version at this year's Geneva auto show. While its length measurement places it in the compact class, clever engine and transmission placement, inclined partially into the passenger section, allows for a considerably larger amount of interior space, along the lines of the S-Class. The B-Class features a van's complement worth of cargo space with its height-adjustable load compartment floor and removable rear seats. The vehicle can also be purchased with an optionally removable front-passenger seat. Other amenities include a panoramic sunroof and Mercedes' Electronic Stability Program. Based on the A-Class, this five-seat Compact Sports Tourer represents Mercedes' attempt to produce a product with value, space and reliability for the American market. Due to various financial concerns, however, Mercedes has postponed its U.S. debut before late 2007. "
