I just disconnected the battery to reset the ecu, and now the alarm won't let me start my car when I put the cable back on. How do I disconnect to factory alarm, or disarm it?
im not sure if this will work for you but out alarm system went crazy and wouldnt let us open the door or touch the car without the alarm going off so my dad just pulled the little black box that says "Mazda Security" or something like that out. for use the sensor was messed up or something.

Dude, this happens all the time. The module just trips out when you reset the ECU. You may also be noticing that the alarm light is blinking rapidly right now. Here is what you do:
There are two ways to clear the problem:
The first way and my personal favorite is to get in the car and close the door. Hit the lock button as quickly as you can for about 30 seconds.
Then unlock button once. Open the drivers' side door one time and close it. Then put the key in the ignition and start the car.
Then shut off the car. Open the door and shut it again and hit the lock button.
The light should blink normally now.
This may seem really really silly but for some reason it resets the module.
Alternately:
You can hit the unlock button, then hit the door jam button three times and then turn the ignition key three times.
Then shut the door and hit the lock button. I was told by the dealership that this is the proper way to reset the module. But to date that method only worked on two different occasions so I am not feeling the faith.
Lastly, once again, I know this sounds insane, but I have had this happen to me several times before after reseting the ECU and I know it works.
I sincerely hope this helps.

hahaha thats awesome!
i just disconnected the module, and it still wont let me start the car, theres no starter tick, so im going to guess the ECU thinks its still on lock down.
going to try your method now :D

Too bad you weren't in the MS area. I have grown to be quite lucky with that module. Sorry to hear it didn't work out though.
It has had some serious issues though. Mostly what it had been known to do is keep the parking lights on and drain the battery.
another trick I did on the last reset was alternate the lock/unlock buttons for about 10 times and that also did the trick.
After I installed the turbo timer, I did that trick with disconnecting the purple wire off the door lock module and shorting the orange wire on hte module to ground.
But then it got into the mode where it would arm itself while I was driving down the road and it would randommly toot the horn at people as I was driving around. The only way to break the cycle was to turn the car off, open the door, close the door, arm the alarm, disarm the alarm, open the door, close the door, and start the car bfore the passive alarm mode switches on.
Annoying as hell!!!!! I had to change the jumper and turn off the passive mode!

all you need to do is close all the doors, attach the battery, alarm goes nuts, hit the unlock button twice and your done, if the light is still blinking click lock, unlock twice again and it should be all good

I have helped a few people with this one way back in the day... hook everything back up first. Then, disconnect the battery like you did to reset the ECU (you can just unhook and rehook it). The alarm should go off when you put the neg cable back on. Using the remote, disarm the alarm, and open the drivers door. Close the door, and rearm the alarm. Disarm again, and try to fire it up.
Should work.

Anyways, hopefully you get it working:)

It did this to me also after I disconected the battery. What worked for me was, I locked the doors, connected battery, unlocked doors and started the car. Worked fine. My alarm is being replaced now.lol.

man, mines just ads bad as yours. must be twins.
the only thing that worked was the maniac method. pressing the lock like a psyco for 30s, then unlock once, open the drivers side door and close it. start the car
peice of cake.
except i found it was alot less noisy since i pulled the plug to the horn :P

I'm on my thrid alarm. They are crap!! The one feature about our alarm that really is VERY nice though, is the way it sounds the horn. If you notice, NO OTHER car alarm that I have heard sounds like the MSP random honk, so I can tell if it's my car alarms going off versus some other guy, and people actually pay attention to it because it sounds like some asshole honking endlessly or a person in distress.
