Saturday, September 3rd
Any significant chance of rain or wet roadways will cancel this meet.

INFORMATION
The 'Fun Run' mini-meets are a regular gathering of local MTMA members who want to have a fun ride around twisty backroads. This time we will be traveling through Hunterdon County. The actual spot where we will meet will be at the McDonald's on Center Street in Clinton, NJ. We will meet up at 4:00pm.

The cruise will start at 4:30. Directions will be given to anyone who needs them. All MTMA members and anyone interested in joining MTMA is free to attend.

This cruise is one that was given to me by an officer of the Delaware Valley Miata Club (www.delval.org). I haven't been on the loop yet, but I'll try to check it out before the meet if I can.

The cruise ends at the Long Valley Pub & Brewery where we will be grabbing dinner afterwards.

RULES
1. Keep a safe distance from each other. If we are going too slow for you, then just deal with it for the time being. I'll give you a copy of the directions if you want to take the drive faster by yourself.

2. Strictly obey any speed limits through residential areas.

3. Use common sense at all times. No burnouts, 'attempts' at drifting, etc.

4. We will be taking things fairly fast, so be prepared for some 'spirited' driving. People that do not feel comfortable taking sharp turns higher than the posted recommended speed (not the speed limit, the speed posted on the yellow signs) will want to stay towards the back of the pack.

5. On straights and slight curves, for the most part we will stay close to the speed limit to avoid attention from the police .

6. If your car is significantly lower than stock you may want to think twice before going on the run. There are a lot of elevation changes, and people with really lowered cars may have had some trouble. Use your own judgement when driving; I or MTMA accept no responsibility for any damages.

DIRECTIONS
McDonald's
Route 31 & I-78 (On Rt. 31 South)
Clinton, NJ 08809

Take I-78 to Route 31 North. You will pass the McDonald's across the divider on your left. Take the first U-turn and pull into the McDonald's. We will meet in the back of the parking lot.

QUESTIONS
If you have any questions about anything concerning this run, feel free to post a reply or send me a PM.

Yeah, I figure it'd be better to end the run at a brewery rather than start the run at one.

Bump for this weekend! Weather looks good.

I made a 'test run' this past weekend on the course. A couple of notes:

1. The directions are very, very good. It lists every turn down to the tenth mile (set your trip odometer at the beginning). I will have printouts for everyone.

1. The beginning of the course has some pretty rough roads. Only for a couple miles. No huge potholes or anything, just rough pavement. We'll take things slow in the beginning until we get onto the better roads.

2. Towards the middle of the course, there are a couple of roads with loose gravel. Again, it's only for a couple of miles. We will take things *VERY* slow here, so be patient. Try to keep a good distance between you and the car in front of you.

3. Some of the roads are very, very narrow. Stay as far right as you can, as all of them are two-way roads.

4. There's definitely some good twisties. I had a lot of fun even though the roads were wet in places and I had to take things easy.

5. It's a pretty long run. Definitely longer than our Bucks County run. 51 miles total. Make sure you have enough gas! Spirited driving sucks the gas!!!

6. The meet spot is very easy to find. It is right off of I-78. Take the exit for Route 31, and hop on Rt 31 North. You will pass the McDonald's across the divider on your left. Take the first U-turn and pull into the parking lot.

Anyone coming who does not have my cell phone # just PM me and I will give it to you in case you get lost.

Sounds good...looks like we're going to have a smaller group going (4 cars). But that is OK...with more than 6 or 7 people it gets to be a pain sometimes keeping the group together.

I think I'll be able to come to the run so if you see a millenium red '02 DX show up, don't be surprised. It's also about time I joined the club.

I was fortunately able to attend the run and it was a great ride. Fifty-one miles of 2-lane backroads through a really scenic area with plenty of twisties to contend with. Dinner at the Pub in Long Valley was excellent, made even better by the selection of home-made brews available.

Thanks to jersey_emt for setting up the event and checking out the course beforehand. I'm looking forward to future "Fun Runs" and plan to attend as many as possible.
