hi all, I have a Canadian model 04 M3. I know the auto wipers function makes the compass not work, but was wondering if I could some how just use the mirror autodim function. Bot sure how to even remove the mirror. I bought the mirror off ebay and looks great, but I only wanted the autodim and nothing else really mattered. I was thinking I could keep the auto wiper part attached at the window and just remove the mirror and attach to the other one.

It's theoretically possible but I have no idea how the mirror comes apart to switch out the different bases. If you do figure it out, you should still be able to use the temp function, too.

Looks like I will just have to sell it. I looked it over close and looks solid and doesn't look like it would come apart unless I break into it and then if it doesn't work I just wasted some $.

Is this the OEM one and does it have Homelink on it?

OEM no homelink. auto dim, compass. Has 2 buttons 1 on each front of mirror.

Damn...If it had Homelink, I was going to try to buy it from you. :(

Just thought I'd post and see if anyone has taken apart or added a dimming mirror to a base model mount. Been holding off selling the self dim mirror, but I looked at it and doesn't look like it comes apart. I don't want to ruin it.

You should be able to. All of the autodim parts are within the mirror itself. The bigger base thingy is just for the compass.

It does look like it could work, but the dimmer mirror looks sealed.

I dunno, man. It's your call.
I'm not going to take mine apart just to see if it's possible. :D
