i can't prove it since I didn't dyno the car, but she feels slower than b4 with the stock cat
anyone else get this from going catless on an N/A car?

I bet the powerband shifted higher up in the rpm. You do have more hp then what you had before but in the higher rpm band. In the lower rpm you might have lost a little because you might have lost a little backpressure when you removed the cat which makes it feel like you lost a lil torque n power. Thats my guess. Also check for any exhaust leaks because if you have one then you will definitly lose power. Hope this helps a little

umm, i do still have 2 small leaks
that's probably what it is, thanks bro

Probably lost the low end and maybe gained a little up top. Unless you have alot done to the car it probably did more harm than good...

OOf, that's not much backpressure...Might have a little bit too much flow. No VTCS removal? Simple. Inexpensive. 20% more flow!

i'm planning on removing that crap soon enough, i just can't afford to mees up the car and be carless for even a day :(

I can understand that. I got a spare manifold and did the work to it and swapped the manifold out one morning before work. Took like an hour.

an hour!?!?!?, really? wow, u must be really good or this mod is really easy
did u need new gaskets for the TB and Intake manifold?

Is it really 20% better flow? OK I'm convinced-- I'm doing it.

Well, one of the members did the math on it and got that the VTCS butterflies and shaft block 20% of the area. It's worth it even if it's less.. the car runs much better without it.
Backpressure? Lower the better. . . PERIOD.
The loss of power problem encountered with "free flow systems" is a decrease in exhaust velocity due to using piping that is too large. When an exhaust vavle opens, the exhaust pulse from the previous cylinders assist in pulling the exhaust gases out of the cylinder/combustion chamber. This effect is called scavenging. When exhaust velocity drops, less scavenging occurs. Optimal exhaust size varies with engine speed. The 2.5" mid-pipe is simply too large for your NA motor, unless you plan on spending more time near and past redline.
Being cat-less isn't the problem. The cat is a restriction that decreases velocity and increases backpressure. The problem is the large diameter piping.

Damn, you got skills man, it took me like two days to swap em, lol.

When my VICS fell off I had my intake mani off in about 30 min, and about another 30 min to put it back on.
As far as the topic of the tread. I noticed some loss in bottom end with no cats but a pretty nice gain on top end. I didnt see much with just the cat-less midpipe but when i added the header it was noticable.

i did this and my car sounded smoother and deeper...but i dont think i gained more than 2 ponies....a lot of times if u expect too much from a part and it falls short, that may make u fell like its slower...or it just be lol
