Stupid Exhaust question

Can someone explain to me the following terms. I want to get an exhaust but I am confused. I want something from the turbo all the way ( I would prefer all the same brand)

So what is:
J pipe
S pipe
downpipe

what actually makes up our exhaust I thought it was downpipe to exhaust and the exhaust as the cats on it. But I think I am screwed up.

s pipe comes off the turbo, to the jpipe , to the downpipe

The downpipe is the J pipe and the s pipe as a unit. Here is a picture of Corksport's :


From there you have your mid pipe with cats in stock form. And then your cat back.

Ok so downpipe= a J pipe + S pipe (maybe one unit maybe not) and then the mid pipe and then the cat back...

corksport.... they just produced the downpie & also produce a downpipe back exhaust...I love it.

Ion does and you already have some of their stuff. GHL is the only other company that has the FULL turbo back. I have the Vibrant system which is S-pipe back. Still not sure how significant replacing that S-pipe is.

corksport NOW makes a full turbo back




Ion does and you already have some of their stuff. GHL is the only other company that has the FULL turbo back. I have the Vibrant system which is S-pipe back. Still not sure how significant replacing that S-pipe is.

Yeah I second the Corkaport exhaust!!! If you have ever heard a WRX with a Blitz NUR Spec exhaust on it....thats what ours sounds like, but with less of a drone.
