I took my car to the dealership for an erratic idle, exhuast manifold gasket leak and the rear squeeking bushings (33000 km's). The erratic idle was not a vaccum leak so the dealership order and replaced the IACV (4 days) this did not solve the problem. The did somthing with the Egr Valve, this did nothing. They replaced the stock plugs which were jus replaced 5000kms ago, this did nothing (1 week has passed). They replaced the exhuast manifold gasket which got rid of the odd leaky kinda whistle I had only under warmup (the gasket and head would expand with heat and the sound would go away). They have also replaced the rear bushings by now and I got the to do the power steering fluid if my car was jus going to be sitting around with an unsolved problem. Well the Mazda dealership I was told were in Contact with Mazda Engineers as they could not solve the problem and apparantly the engineers could not solve the problem in a whole week. So now two weeks has passed and nothing!!! I have to work which is minimum drive 35 minutes which now takes me just under 2 hours with public transportation. I have to get to College 1 hour 15 mins with public Transportation. Im getting right pissed but finally got a call today that they are going to replace the turbo under warranty as they have for sure solved the problem. My car was boosting fine before (7psi) and has never had any problems with boosting??? Does anything think replacing the turbo will do anything for my car??? It is now friday and the new turbo should be here by next tuesday (3 weeks with no car)....Thanks anyone for their help (END RANT) (blowup) (confused)

I find that odd that they would replace your turbo, but hey if it fixes the problem then that's great. I don't think it would, unless your wastegate actuator had a large vacuum leak in it maybe. Sounds like they are just guessing their way through it by replacing every part until it works. (ugh)

Seems like a lot of us here have idle problems and not a lot of luck fixing them. I'm interested to hear if your car gets fixed right. Good Luck.

Can you explain your idle problem exactly, does it happen during warmup, or only after warmup, does it dip whenever you press the clutch, does it eventually stabilize?

are you in calgary? Ive had bad experiences with the one of the dealership in calgary.

Im not sure how a new turbo is going to help your problem???

No loaner or rental car?

Sometimes putting parts on is the only way to determine whats not the problem. If the wastegate was creating a leak I could see having to replace the unit. The good news is you are not paying for it.

I had an erratic idle problem also, but I'm not turboed. It turned out to be a combo of the IAC valve, a crappy EGR valve and the main problem was the tranmission range sensor.

Yeah Im in Calgary....There was another yellow speed at Sunridge with almost an identicle problem and they were replacing the turbo as well. You by any chanc dont know Curtis of have went to SAIT??? I have only ever seen one other Titanium in Calgary. The two Orange speeds live jus the down the street from me (orange carbon hood, FMIC)...Wonder if they have had the same problems...

The rough idle...Only after warmup, every time the clutch is depressed or the the car is sitting in neutral the rpms dip to about 200/300 gets ready to stall then they shoot back up to about 1000 then settle back to 800 for a few second then continues to repeat itself....Seems to be more frequent if im harder on the car.

WHat is a transmission range sensor, I've never heard of that. Is that for a manual transmission?

I graduated from SAIT 2 years ago, i know a couple guys named curtis. Im out in the NW, and have a 03 wing on my titanium. A friend of mine had his turbo replaced by sunridge 2 times on his yellow msp, so I guess thats there answer for everything.... .....the service department at Sunridge is totaly useless through my past experiences. I will never go back (unless its to throw a rock through there front window)

Are you coming out to the mazda in the mountains? Check out the thread in the alberta section if your interested.

good luck with the repairs, and let us know what the solution is when they find it.

later,

No loaner or rental ...car?

If you are under warranty, theere is NO reason why you should not have a rental...That is part of Mazda's warranty..What gives three weeks with no car and no rental or loaner...I would be more than highly pissed and calling Mazda North America and raising all kinds of hell.
Lets just say some heads would roll!

you dont always have to replace parts to try and figure out what is wrong with a car. There are many ways you can check things with electronics...and i dont mean a diagnostics.

I too have the same problem with my speed. I really want to take it apart and see what it is, because having the car idle that low really is not good for the motor.

Sortove... If you are not old enough then you won't get one. I know I cannot get a rental...

Wow! Really? All this time I would throw parts at a car until it worked!?!?! Thanks man!

In NY you have to be at least 21, most companies are 25.

In NY you have to be at least 21, most companies are 25.Then they should provide a loaner...you paid for the car like anyone else...you should get the warranty just like everyone else.I had an insurance company try to pull that on me before I was 21 and I raised hell and come to find out that they CAN do it ...It just costs more per day because of the added insurance. They paid it all BTW.

I cannot get a loaner because I am not 25 and dont have a credit card (sucks). I live the in the NW too. There was another yellow msp there getting the turbo replaced and the techs there do not seem knowledgeable at all. Oh well at least I have warranty for another 30000 kms if the techs dont fix it right the first time. If the problem is not fixed next week with the Turbo replacement I am going to be calling Mazda North America!!!!!!!!!!! Im getting more pissed everyday without a car. Last nite cost me 27$ to get home because I got off later then public transportation running times...**GHEY!!!!!** Im not very impressed with the service as of yet!! I hope they give me one of those performance survey things in the mail so I can negatively affect the department unless they somehow provide me with some superior service in the next few days ??????

I had the same problem. My idle was very erratic, dealer put a new turbo and manifold on the car and it solved the problem.

I think it is the wastegate, the mazda dealer said it is bad on my car and won't repair it because I have an intake on my car. What gets me is how can it go bad in such a short time. the idle has gone to bad but only short periods of time.

Transmission range sensor code is for automatics only.
