Were you experiencing some sort of speed barrier?
From your video, I have "H" rated snowtires and I can easily out accelerate you right to my top speed.

New tires won't help, you must have some other problem. Trip to the dealer.

EDIT: (to be uptight and politically correct...)
Please reproduce this featured high speed action movie without your super cool choice of Pop music. This way, some of us people here can listen to your engine or exhaust to see if we can tell what is stopping your vehicle from achieving 100mph. (Which is approx 160km/h. I'm saying this to not offend other Canadian folks by myself by using american only units of speed.)
(braindead)
But in all seriousness it might be a part you added that you think is doing good, (ex: exhaust if it's cheap) which is actually preventing you from going that fast. It has absolutely nothing to do with the tires.

BTW: Taking it to the dealer & telling them the problem probably wouldn't be the greatest idea... "Every time I try to go over 100mph it wont let me"..... LOL just a thought :D

The rating on the tires is purely a measure of their heat dissipation ability... if you overheat the tires they can rupture, fatigue, and fail. Also it indicates a degree of strength and balanced associated with the tires so they can withstand the rpm's they go through at those speeds... H-ratings will not in any way affect how fast you can or can't go.. why you hit a wall like that I don't now... but it is not the rating of the tires that caused it... the tread may be so coarse or the like that it increased your drag to a point that the motor can't overcome... and once you went into fifth gear the multiplier was such that the motor couldn't overcome the forces etc... so it's another issue.
EDIT: Fixed spelling... coarse was course

He/she can't get over 100mph and he/she's blaming his/her tires for it... (hand) And people are saying his/her music sux like and other poeple are complaining about that.
BTW... how the hell can you even drive fast with music like that??? It doesn't make sense.... maybe at least some kind of upbeat music but this is slooooww...
Oh.. and my stock protege does easily over that speed with whatever crap all-season budget tires I have on.... so it's not tires.

I explained on the last page what the speed rating of the tires means...
It isn't his rev limiter as he is nowhere near redline..
I did explain why drag is likely causing it.. has to do with the rolling resistance of whatever he may have on and what the wind on the day was like and so forth...
And since none of you have figured it out yet.. the music is overlayed on the video... it is NOT playing in the car.

WTF is drag limited?!
F=ma Force = mass * acceleration.
Alright.. so what is the force in the car... 3 major things...
1) The rolling resistance of the tire against the ground. Due to the deformation of the tire, the way air flows over it, and the adhesion to the ground from various factors the tire requires a certain amount of force to be rolled along the ground. Some tires are more efficient than others because of structure... and some more efficient than others due to tread pattern and silica compound.
2) Mechanical loss. All those bearings and rotating parts experience friction and viscous loss etc that results in an overall force that needs to be overcome... some of you call it driveline loss or drivetrain loss or transmission loss... but that isn't completely accurate as you get other losses from wheel bearings, seal mating friction etc.. and that will change with speed/rpm's.
3) air drag/turbulence force. The faster the car goes the more rapidly it has to push air out of the way. This also generates a greater and greater pressure differential between the front and rear of the car... this in turn determines along with the mechanical shape of the car how much "drag loss" due to air you have... the faster you go the more you have... the more turbulent the air flow is the more you have as well...
So add those 3 up and you get an amount of force acting on preventing the car from going faster... now the motor can only put out so much force (torque when divided by the length of the wheel diamter is the amount of static force being applied at the ground to move the car... ) So anyway.. when the forces acting on the car match or exceed the force the motor is generating at the wheels the car stop accelerating. Your drag numbers of reached you engine output numbers and you can now no longer accelerate... and if you shift up in gears, your torque multiplier drops and then torque at the wheels drops... and suddenly the drag forces are higher than the wheel forces and the car starts slowing down...
So now if his car aerodynamically is poorer (windows down just the wrong amount etc) and his tires are extra crappy and the tread is of a poor design the you'll have even more losses for rolling resistance... pair that with everything else and suddenly you have a P5 that can only do 98 mph when another P5 may pull off 110 or 120.
Drag limited speed... any time your car can't go faster because of forces rather than an electronic limiter or simply running out of gearing and revs.

Sweeet wright up TurF!!!
i am aware and can confim everything you have stated... what i was unawre is that if would or could have that much effect.... im still slightly skeptical that that is the root cause especialy since the kind of forces your desribing affect every p5 equaly stock or close to it... and hes way of the bar... way off... but your theroy cleans up the picturer alot... did anyone notice this video may jsut be a dig a t MP's trying to pok fun.. or is this kid really that "hung up " on his tires?

As a Vendor I don't find it funny at all and it has nothing to do with being PC or uptight... the fact is that BS is what leads half the the threads we have into flame wars and useless crap information. Additionally, if the guy seriously didn't know what is/was going on and is a new member you have now managed on his 4th post ever to make him shy away from this forum because it is filled with people acting like asshats as far as he knows. That hurts me and the other vendors on here because that is one more potential sale not here because you think it is funny. It isn't intelligent, it isn't helpful, and there are far better ways to state things. If people thought their statements through once in a while we wouldn't have all the BS fights and we'd have more useful information and more friendly discussions in general. Off the cuff rants and backhanded remarks do nothing for the community and show an overall lack of intelligence and maturity.

Here is another thing if the post was that upsetting then a mod or an admin should have told him something not and Authorized Vendor.....
In what way did I fail in any expectation that you should have of an authorized vendor? My point was from the start and very clear that you were condoning the kind of mentality and activity on this forum that causes so many problem. How in any way was his statement about the music in the video productive, positive, or useful? So you want to encourage people to at any time make any kind of obscene statement they so choose because they differ in opinion on someone's taste? In this case in music? My statement was very clear from the beginning that my asking him to edit his statement had nothing to do with being PC or being Uptight but rather showing some respect and patience for a newer member. Using slurs to describe someone's video post is nothing but degrading to that member and any point or question that they had. While my word choice of "asshat" may be somewhat stronger than the other option of "jerk" it was intended solely to provide some emphasis to the fact that the behavior you were condoning was more than the average internet jerk routine.
How was I in any way being a jerk? I never once directed my statements directly toward either of you... my statement if you read it closely (and think about it.. because it was well though out) stated that it would be easy for him to construe that the forum was filled with jerks/asses/whatever you choose because his single post was met with nothing more than a series of flames about his choice in soundtrack and his possible lack of knowledge on a point of technicality in tire construction. So if you post up an image asking a tech question that may seem obvious to the rest of us, but not to you and you use a pink box to indicate what you want I should refer to your post with slander about the pink box rather than constructively pursue your question?
And my last statement regarding the CF hoodpins was purely for levity (which orphman got) because CF and NOS are the typical run of the mill jokes used in the car communities to say that something shouldn't be taken too seriously. I did not direct it toward you personally or anyone else... and wouldn't intend to do so.
The mentality that mods are the only ones who can regulate or indicate bad form on the forums is similar to a mentality that because you know your buddy is out ripping off rims or smashing windows on the cars it isn't your responsibility to say anything and you'll just have to wait until the cops step in instead.
My statements were intended toward a mature and constructive point, condoning statements like was made earlier does no one any good. If you do not take those statements at that level of maturity and understanding then I guess you could take them to be less than what they were.
I care more about my reputation as someone there to help and to answer questions regardless of how "stupid" they may appear to someone than whether or not I will cater whim and fancy to someone looking to be a jerk. If I lose a sale because I'm willing to stand up for a mentality and a thought process that helps better the forums and encourages new members to ask questions regardless of how simple the answer may be then so be it as I'd rather conduct my business honorably than by degrading anyone whether they may buy form me or not.
If you can't see and understand that in my comments than so be it. I don't make money (have yet to put a dime in my pocket), and I started the company purely because I was tired of crappy vendors who wouldn't answer questions, didn't follow up on orders, and who marked up products unnecessarily. I will stay true to those reasons for this business and I will continue to defend the right of anyone to ask questions regardless of how silly or incorrect or how valid or technical they might be and their right to be able to ask them without fear of being ridiculed by the immature and ignorant.

will have to find out some day....i have had my car close to 116 many miles ago (nothing on top) and when i have the boat/boats on top, you can feel the drag difference, especially of there is cross winds while driving fast......
sure it will make a difference.....

some things deeply confuse me with this video
1. don't know what he drives (p5 i guess) and i don't know if he drives auto or manual (in which gear)...
but if he's driving mt in 5th gear or auto he does have a problem.
when he hits 5,500 rpm he is at about 85mph..that's not nearly where it should be..even my 1.6zm delivers 182kmh(113mph)@5500rpm in 5th gear, the p5 should hit the 5,500 rpm with even more speed.... i can only imagine a few things causing so much resistance on the road ...a load of 300kg of additional weight... tires which only have half as much air pressure as they're supposed to have etc...
2. what really confuses me is that the sudden rpm drop at almost exactly at 6krpm to exactly 4krpm...-without- some rough behaviour of the car/engine when losing 2krpm within the blink of an eye....
i would guess there's something deeply wrong with the electronics in the car..according to what i see i would say "rev limiter" at once, but taking the rpm/kmh into my consideration i would say the man has some serious problem, whether with his electronics or with his fuel deliverance/injection...
i would go look for a dealer right now, this must be fixed.

regardless of what car... if the transmission is the same... MT or AT and same gear ratios... it does not matter how much power you do or don't have you will go the same speed at that same gear... so if his gearing is the same as yours at 5500 rpm's you will BOTH do the exact same speed, can never do anyting other than that... but your extra load or low pressure in the tires are valid reasons as to how he could be running out of steam as the speed rises.
2. what really confuses me is that the sudden rpm drop at almost exactly at 6krpm to exactly 4krpm...-without- some rough behaviour of the car/engine when losing 2krpm within the blink of an eye....

It looked just like a gear shift to me... most likely done by an auto because of the smoothness of the drop, but possible a decent manual shift by him.
Fue, ignition, etc would not cause that and an electronics problem would cause needle twitching and so forth... everything is very smooth and controlled, so there isn't a malfunction.
i would go look for a dealer right now, this must be fixed.
I don't think there is anything to fix... I think he just doesn't have enough power... but no idea what he has for a car or motor though to determine that for sure.

Okay, so I guess I must promptly apologize with great meaning to all vendors on this forum. Being part of the terrorist group that frightens away newcomers to this forums, I feel immensly responsible for driving away potential customers, especially since he hisellf has precisely stated: "I am a newbie with lots to offer...", which to me sounds like he was ready to take out a $10kUSD (approx. $12,295.0006 for us Canadian folks who shake their head at rubbish numbers they do cannot comprehend.) loan to empty all your shelves. You still missed the overall point. It is continuing the general attitude and those kinds of posts that are the entire reason we now have forum areas like purgatory and why people don't ask questions that they should. The fact of one instance is not the issue, it is the habitual act of members of these forums of doing what you and others did to this guy (regardless of whether he was for real or not, or whether he deserved it or not) that causes a problem and pushes people away from these forums. How do you know that there weren't 15 or 20 more people that read the post and the subsequent attacks thereafter that didn't then have their opinion or view of this forum degraded? I have talked with other protege owners and encouraged them to get on the forums and have had some say they were on here but there were too many idiots and jerks so they don't come on here any more. How many more people out there that have the same story? How many user names does Antoine have that are not active because they got fed up with flame wars and personal attacks?
Just because it is a forum and the internet and we don't know everyone's names or where they live doesn't mean it gives us a free pass to be immature, banal, and foolish.

Dude... I totally agree with you with what you say but it all depends how you take the flame and what it's about. If someone is saying that person is absolutely wrong becaues they are saying nonsense like "DONT BUY H RATED TIRES!!!!" then that is fine. He should of asked: "is it cuz of my tires?". If someone would of called him stupid just for that, then that person would be a complete asshole.
Ok well here is my point in a way that might make more sense.
Someone getting flamed because he is ignorant (and innocent), ie not thinking e knows it all wihile still asking a question. Then that is a stupid reason to flame someone.
If someone sais "DONT BUY AEM INTAKE" because they had trouble installing it, then they should be flamed hardcore for being an idiot.
Most pople don't care about being flamed as long as it's not personal. I've been flamed before and I don't give a shit. I never left a forum from being flamed and I never will. Thats like beeing scared to go back to the mall because some tough looking italian kid told you he didnt want to see your face around there again. If your a wimp youll listen, otherwise youll go. Who cares what other epople think or want? What's important is that there are still epople who can help you on the forums. I'm sure some people who are very useful in these forums (who help a lot) just skip threads like this to avoid flaming that person themselves.

This is the last I will post about this as it seems this is a misunderstanding.
I never condoned his comment about the music being ghey, I merely said that his post was funny and it was. If you read it, I mean really read it, it is a funny post.
Again read his reworded post, he even offers to help at the end. So come on give us a break and learn to laugh.
I will stay true to those reasons for this business and I will continue to defend the right of anyone to ask questions regardless of how silly or incorrect or how valid or technical they might be and their right to be able to ask them without fear of being ridiculed by the immature and ignorant.

then i dont get the meaning of the video...
he showed us the vid to state that something is wrong with his car when going over 100mph....?
- if i assume that he drives a MT:
1st gear 3.416:1
2nd gear 1.842:1
3rd gear 1.290:1
4th gear 0.972:1
5th gear 0.775:1
Final drive 3.850:1 (4.105:1 for my ESPEC ZL,ZM)
then the vid must have shown his shift from 4th to 5th... which would def not result in a 2krpm drop (rather 800-1kprm) and he would of course be able to accellerate further (no matter what engine..even the e-spec B3 engine (1324ccm) delivers 162kmh/100mph in 5th gear @ 5500 rpm (but in reality it will go further...))
- if i assume that he drives a AT:
1st gear 2.816:1
2nd gear 1.497:1
3rd gear 1.000:1
4th gear 0.725:1
Final Drive 3.904:1
then the drop would be the shift from 3rd to 4th gear in the AT transmission (which suits the 2krpm drop a little more, but still not really :ß )...i mean,i've never seen the AT in the 2.0 "live" while driving (we don't have the AT down here with the 2.0l engine), but does it really shift as late as 6krpm?
in both cases the car is missing the smallest bit of accelleration in the top gear. this simply makes me think that something must be wrong with that car.
i drive autobahn pretty often and i do a lot of things, and of course i had my windows open at about 160kmh/100mph just for fun but it was always the sound and the pressure of the air that made ME brake down, the car never had probs accellerating further ^^
btw: a slipping clutch could also result in such a mismatch of rpm/mph...
don't get me wrong, this shouldnt become some theoretical smartarse thread, but i'm always interested in such "weird" problems..so i'm looking for an answer...
if i was free to take a guess, i would say mazda forgot to build the right top gear into his transmission (drunk)
and yes, the guy won't come back i guess (dunno) why do you people ruin so many threads?

then i dont get the meaning of the video...
he showed us the vid to state that something is wrong with his car when going over 100mph....?
we believe he was trying to say the rating of the tires was what eliminated his ability to go over 100 mph and that was what he was trying to show.
Nice to see the research and solid thought process there with your gear ratios etc!
I have seen 2.0L auto's shift as late as 6600 rpm's... so 6000 wouldn't be a problem at all...
I think his car simply lacks the power and can't do more than 100 mph... and when it shifts into the last gear or goes into overdrive etc/whatever the motor becomes overloaded and loses to the other forces actingo n the car.
And yep a slipping clutch will result in a mismatch... and obviously a torque converter generates an automatic mismatch and can lead to additional mismatches due to other reasons if major issues are present... but I don't think that is happening here.
and yes, the guy won't come back i guess (dunno) why do you people ruin so many threads?
I'm often amazed when I even find a really good pure thread in general :).
