so i was leaving the parking lot, first gear, gave it gas, made it to about 4000 rpms, then .... nothing... put it in first, metal to metal grinding... limped it to the parking lot, now, i can put it in first, let the clutch out, and its as if the car was in neutral... horray.. i have about 45k on my car, so i guess its not THAT bad.. now i have to tow it to mazda and get it fixed

i guess it could just be a fork and plate problem. but i dont really know much about clutches just trying to look at the brighter side

its probably not your clutch, a clutch typically will not just give up instantly you will feel it wearing out
it sounds more like a shift fork or most likely the lsd is toast

I'm gonna place my money on the LSD, the metal to metal hallucination follows an overdose of LSD on our cars.
(like my making car lingo drug lingo or what?)

I agree with everyone saying it sounds like your LSD.
If it were your clutch you would still be able to move and most likely not be able to get into gear.

That's very clever. This is 100% off topic, but a few weeks ago my g/f told her mom we were going to Circuit City to look at LCD tv's because my old 36" tube monster broke. So when we got back, the crazy bitch (her mom) pulled me aside and asked if we were doing acid. I was honestly stunned beyond words.

LSD is much more expensive unless you are under warranty, in which it will be cheaper for you than a clutch.
